The staff here looked after my diabetic cat like he was their own. They sent me beautiful updates and made me feel sure that he was receiving the best care. He was shown so much love and attention he probably would have liked to have stayed there! An amazing, caring and hard working team. Thank you
Review of My Pet's Euthanasia Warning: Potentially Triggering We are very disheartened to write this post, as Streatham Vets took such great care of Timon during his life. Unfortunately, Timon had very aggressive cancer, and as his health rapidly declined, he had to be put to sleep. He passed away 2 weeks ago at the great age of 13.5 years. The experience we had during Timon's euthanasia was very unfair. We can only assume the veterinarian who conducted the procedure was inexperienced. The initial stage of the process was to sedate Timon, so he was taken to the back to have a cannula inserted and the sedative drug administered. 5 minutes later when she brought Timon back, he was wide awake. His eyes were wide open, and he was alert. This was very strange to us, but we were not in the right headspace to question it at the time. She then proceeded to administer the euthanasia drug, and as she was doing this, Timon was moving his leg that had the cannula in it as if he was in discomfort. About five minutes later, she said Timon had displaced the cannula while moving, so she would have to go to the back to reinsert the cannula and redo the sedation. At this point, we were very concerned about why he was not properly sedated in the first place. Had he been sedated, he would not have been able to move around so much and wouldn’t have felt discomfort. When she left with Timon again, she didn’t return until about 10 minutes later what she was doing for ten minutes, we will never know. Timon returned to us, this time in a clearly passive state. The rest of the process proceeded, and Timon went to sleep. To be in such an emotional state and have to put your beloved pet to sleep is already distressing. To have an inexperienced vet conduct the process was a shortfall of Streatham Vets, and I would urge anyone who will go through this process to ensure an experienced vet handles it or an inexperienced vet is supported by an experienced vet I understand people have to learn. We can only hope Timon was not in any pain, and we can only hope that the second time she brought him to us, he was actually sedated and hadn’t already gone to sleep. I am sending my deepest thoughts and positive energy to anyone going through the process of putting their beloved pet to sleep. Rest well my bubby. REVIEW EDITS 10/06/24 We reached out to Streatham Hill Vets after they left a message on my original review to discuss what happened. They were very sincere in their apologies for the situation and provided a full refund for the euthanasia procedure. Additionally, they offered to purchase a memorial plaque, plant, or tree for Timon. We genuinely appreciate this gesture. While it doesn't change the circumstances, we are grateful for their customer service and hope this experience will prevent similar issues for others in the future.
Fantastic vets! Very responsive, caring and knowledgeable. Have brought my cat here on two occasions and I’ve been impressed both times. Last night, my cat sustained an injury to her eye which could have been very serious. I called the practice and my call was answered quickly and my concerns were taken seriously. I took her straight down and felt confident leaving her there overnight, knowing that she was in safe hands. So grateful that this practice is within easy reach! The whole team are so kind.
Have come in for multiple visits, for multiple reasons, and every time the whole team have been so kind and supportive! We have an American bulldog cross and with all the bully ban stuff, the team haven’t been anything but amazing helping us understand everything. Raya absolutely loves the team and means so much they love her right back! She most recently had an ACL surgery and so far teams been nothing but brilliant!
Just Wow! I was quite anxious but these feelings were soon settled by the very professional service at this surgery. My cat was really well looked after, it's not cheap here but worth all the money to make sure your pet has the best. The vet called me and gave me a very detailed analysis of Marley's progress. I highly recommend them.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this clinic in Streatham. Wonderful staff who have a genuine passion and love for animals. The out of hours staff went above and beyond to treat my dog and as a practice they are incredibly well equipped. The nursing team is 10/10 both compassionate and caring. They also ensured I was fully informed during a highly stressful time. Thank you for all you do!
Today I arrive with two cats one cat seriously ill with cancer and the second one for a check up unfortunately I left with one cat Levi blue jeans is now an angel cat and he will be missed the care that was taken at the Vets and the kindness of the staff put me at ease Although very sad I knew he was in good hands so highly recommend Amazing Vets in Streatham. Many thanks to all the staff for your kindness
I had an emergency situation with my dog and went to Streatham Hill Vets out of hours. I spoke to a lovely lady on the phone who was really helpful. The surgery has parking directly outside which made it easier for me as I am quite a nervous driver. The whole team were absolutely amazing! The vet was so kind to me and my dog and the nurse honestly treated him like he was her own. My boy is recovering well at home now, so I cannot thank the team enough for what they did. I also found out since my visit that the practice is independent and have made the decision to move to their day service as my full time vets. Thank you Streatham Hill Vets!
I forgot to add words when I pressed 5 stars! Doh! Sorry! Streatham Hill Vets are amazing! Our cat Tomas was very poorly, with bladder issues. He is now home and on the mend. We were given daily updates and even a picture 1 day of our beautiful boy. My husband and I cannot thank you ALL enough for the care and compassion that he was shown and to us also. I can highly recommend you to everyone , thank you again for fixing our boy
The 24 hour service offered is so helpful and the team there is amazing. Alan and the team were so kind and supportive when we were dealing with the loss of our pet. They supported us every step of the way and put our minds at ease during such a difficult time. Thank you Streatham Hill Vets!
