I joined Strawberry Hill two years ago and have had first class interactions with Dr Fernandez, the medical team generally, the pharmacist, the nurses and the reception team. Without exception everyone has been professional, supportive and very responsive on all the medical issues I brought to them. Thank you very much to all the team at Strawberry Hill!
Shame I can’t put 0 stars because that’s what you deserve. Sent a request online on Monday morning and today Thursday after many calls to chase them up still no call. Every time you call they will told you to put a request form online. After calling 111 and 999 they had a report and I was reassured I will get a call back within an hour from my GP but nobody called me back. My toddler was left alone in pain with a very high temperature without any help, any advice. The doctor insisted in some urine sample from a toddler which was lying lethargic in pain on the sofa. The urine sample was dropped as soon as possible and sent to the hospital without checking them first with a dip strip. Stay assured that you will never get an appointment or a call back from this surgery. Shame I can’t change it . Shocking service.
Shocking reviews! Appears to me that certain reception staff take it upon themselves to decide whether someone is warranted a face to face appointment, a Doctors phone call or any such medical care at all. If you are expecting a sympathetic ear or tone, DONT! However please note not all the staff are the same, there are some pretty nice people there, its pot luck who you get on the phone. I suggest as well as writing reviews for anyone wishing to complain send your complaint via email to the Practice Manager at Strawberry Hill, you could also send them to the NHS complaints too, there's information on The Strawberry Hill medical web page on how to do this, at least that way all complaints received are recorded and a response will be made. Good luck. Lastly, if you work at Strawberry Hill and witness a member of staff being rude to patients face to face or on the phone, do the right thing for the practice its reputation and especially that of the service users.
Where are the GP’s? Sadly it seems at this practice they are hiding behind a grossly inadequate online form, a list of patient names rather than faces with a call back list whilst sitting at home. Gone are the days when you see your GP in the flesh. Instead this money making practice has replaced accesible care with hurdles and hoops to jump through to justify a conversation - if your lucky an appointment in person. The reception staff ask in public settings for medically private info to be shared to assess whether an appointment is warranted or not. I heard a number of these stories shared, and loudly too as the patient’s had to shout over the plastic screens that the reception team sat behind. One lady began to cry! I can only imagine the suffering this must have caused for so many. I feel for the reception team doing the job of a doctor without the training, they really did seem to be doing their best.If you do speak to an actual GP, in this case Dr Whitfield the tone is uncaring and arrogant. Sad times at Strawberry Hill Medical Centre. Avoid if you can.
Firstly I'd like to say After being with my Previous doctor for 30 years in Thatcham Myself and my family were very worried about having to change doctors strawberry hill Medical Centre is our doctors in our new catchment area after reading Several reviews we were very apprehensive.we have been registered here now for over a year and Received excellent Help from every member of staff at this surgery Receptionist nurses and doctors And we have not struggled to get an appointment.Well done Strawberry Hill keep the good work up and Thank you.
If I could put 0 in I would! Am totally appalled at the lack of concern for my elderly stepdad who has an ulcer with a secondary infection. The nurse called Mum to say the px was ready for antibiotics & to go to Boots to collect it ASAP. Mum got there & the GP hadn’t signed it & couldn’t possibly sign it as he had patients! I used to work at a surgery & if a px was urgent we slipped in for a signature between patients! Mum, who had travelled by bus to the chemist was told to come back later!!! In the end Boots promised to deliver it on Saturday morning! I rang when I’d finished work to complain and to see if a copy of the px could be faxed to Boots retail park, so that he could start taking his antibiotics tonight. I was told it was 7 minutes until they closed so nothing could be done & I could ring 111!!! Disgusting! Shame on you.
Long waiting times to speak to reception who can only comment that they are new so can't answer, promise to call back and instead you get an unhelpful text reply which hasn't understood the query. We have also faced issues with referrals not being completed properly, or responses from hospitals being missed and so delaying appointments. Mistakes and miscommunication at every turn.
They don't deserve even one star!! NHS is definitely wasting taxpayers money on this particular healthcare service! No matter what issue we had we've been kindly rejected by doctors, nurses and receptionists... Ended up taking the whole family to an other gp practice as this one is pretty much useless!!
Several years of issues here ever since my doctors moved from Northcroft. I was told my phone appointment was at 8:30am, i have been up waiting after 2 hours i go to the loo and get a phone call Voicemail say please get in touch so i do. I am them told it will be another week before they can get back to me i have been trying to resolve this health problem for over 6 months now and i have not see a doctor yet. what the hell is going on at this surgery ?
Very impressed with the care and attention I received fron SHMC, in particular the professionalism of Dr Faulkner. Her prompt attention was much apprecated.
