Beautiful country park with relaxing lakeside walks with or without your dogs just minutes away from the busy A38 and close to the moorland town of Bovey Tracey. There is abundant wildlife within the park, particularly waterfowl. Worthwhile visiting throughout the year to enjoy the changing seasons and the differing light conditions make it an interesting destination for photography.
My family and I 13 and 10 year old children had a wonderful time at Stover Country Park. We are in the area on holiday and needed somewhere to get some energy out of the kids and the dog! We took the Canadian War Memorial Route, which meant we could have the dog off the lead for a big chunk of the walk. Kids enjoyed den building and delighted in starting a new den, which had already been added to when our circular route brought us back to the same spot.nBe warned, this route is very muddy in parts due to the time of year, so wellies advised!
Great place for a walk around the lake. If you look closely you can spot all types of birds. It's a great place to bring the kids to engage in nature.
Great woodland with lots to see through multiple walking routes. Tainted by paid for parking. £4.00 for the day. I picked up lots of litter on the walk round which was a shame.
Spent a couple of hours walking round the woodland, lake and many ponds. More fun if you walk off the gravel paths and go through the narrow woodland tracks.nIt's much larger than you first think, over 114 acres, and lots of pine trees and mixed deciduous.nHome to many water birds and the occasional Mandarin duck.nOriginally the estate and Manor House was the home of the Seymour family who were Dukes of Somerset.nIn 1932 the house was converted into a girls school and is co-educational today.nWell worth spending time walking around, surrounded by Devon tranquility.
