I had a bent half shaft on a MK2 Jag. Expensive to replace and difficult to get hold of. Terry sorted it for me for a fraction of the cost. A really talented engineer, I will use him again.
Great place. Real old fashioned engeering workshop in a good way. No job is too small. Strongly recommend Stotfold Engineering Co Ltd...they do cycles not only motorcycles.
Had a problem with a petrol tank, traveled across country to see Terry and I'm glad I did, fixed for a decent price in a small time frame. Amazing set up he has there, very experienced and an immense amount of knowledge which he willingly shares. Shame his business isn't closer to me but would use again
Great service, needed a bottom bracket and headset removed from a bike frame. A bike shop in Stevenage spent a weekend on it and weren't able to remove them and said it couldn't be done. 20 mins in Terry's vice, big spanner and piece of 2 by 2 and they were both freed.
Absolute disgrace to deal with. Carburetors were supposed to be fully refurbished. Hardly touched anything, and left with swarf in the fuel chambers from removing the broken drain plugs. Had to take carbs elsewhere to get done properly. Never contacted when they missed the post as I had to buy the repair kits. Save your money, and go elsewhere.
I have now used Stotfold Engineering for two motorcycle restorations. One being a box of bits being transformed into a superb award winning bike. The second bike 1934 was original but not used for decades and was recommissioned rather than restored. The work was carried out to retain the originality and patina. Superb work on both bikes and I am fussy..! Stotfold Engineering is the only company I would trust with my bikes. Proper engineers.
Brilliant workshop with everything available. Terry is very helpful and an old school engineer, becoming a rare bread these days. Will always try and help or point you in the right direction. Motorbike wheels can be fabricated on site.
To be avoided. Said they'd contact me once they'd seen the casing - they didn't Then went ahead and a complete mess of my rare and expensive alloy engine casing with very poor & incomplete welding. Then sat on it for 10 days before posting it to back to me normal mail when I'd requested it to be sent tracked because of it's value and urgency! Charged me 3 times what other firms are currently charging. Refused to refund my money and ignored my emails. Might be OK with lawnmowers but I'd never trust them with anything of value.
Absolute nightmare don't go at end cost be warned
