"Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty, overlooking Kirkham Abbey. Our wonderful pub has kept its original charm with its open fires places & exposed stone walls. We have grown a reputation for delivering freshly cooked, locally sourced food, alongside a superb range of Yorkshire beers and ales, all delivered with a warm welcome. We are very lucky to be situated in an area with beautiful picturesque views that have made us a great place to visit, but we are confident that it’s our passion for great food and service that will have you coming again & again.Children & Dogs are more than welcome as long as they are accompanied by equally well-behaved adults!"

I enjoyed a lovely lunch here. I had the plaice which was delicately cooked. Booking a table is easy using the website and worth doing as it did seem to be filling up quite a bit with visitors including those enjoying the outdoors in the area walkers and cyclists. There is a very large car park. I was seated in the conservatory which looks to be a relatively recent addition and, due to planning, can only be accessed internally. It was heated which was of benefit today and it had decent views across the Derwent Valley.
Incredible meal. Highly recommend. Look no further for delicious food, attentive and friendly staff and a perfect setting and atmosphere. You will not be disappointed. Also, get the duck main. It was amazing.
Delish food. Never tasted beef as nice. EExcellent service with friendly staff. Nice cosy warm feel. Just what you want when visiting a nice country pub!!
Had a lovely meal following a visit to the nearby Kirkham Priory. The staff were great, the food was tasty and the plates were hot! Dog friendly and disabled access available too, definitely recommend
Had gorgeous Sunday lunch here today sat in front of a cosy log fire. The service was great and everybody was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
Oh my goodness what a lovely place! We were doing a walk nearby and happened upon this place and we were so glad we did. Such a welcoming and atmospheric pub. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. There were four of us with two dogs...our doggies were also well taken care of after their walks with water bowls and gravy bones! There was an excellent choice on the menu and we all ordered different things. Everyone was delighted with their food when it arrived. Real quality ingredients and beautifully presented. There was a great selection of beers and ales at the bar and we especially loved the cost fires that were lit. We could have stayed all afternoon!
Beautiful location whether you want to walk or drive drive to the pub. Kirkham Abbey is a lovely riverside setting and the pub is nearby. Beef pot pie was a joy. Service and prices were excellent. Lovely traditional build with conservatory with stunning views well worth stopping at. Love to see it in the winter.
The Sunday dinner was outstanding!! Whilst not the biggest you are going to get. It is definitely the tastiest. It was cooked to perfection. Only one criticism they should do a larger portion and charge extra!! Sorry for being greedy!! It was that good I wanted more. Would I go again?? ABSOLUTELY!!
Lovely pub in beautiful village. Great indoor and outdoor space. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Service was quick but we only had a snack. Definitely worth a visit but maybe book if you are a big group.
This is a really lovely country pub. We ate a nice lunch here. It was fairly busy and could have done with an extra staff member on. But I'd definitely eat here again
