My wife and I booked the Valentine's Day meal, which was £69 per person, plus drinks. Although we received good service and the food was delicious, the meagre portion sizes left us disappointed. By the time we had consumed the "snack", starter and main, we were considering stopping off for something to eat on the way home, as we were still so hungry! The beef Wellington was advertised as "for two to share" which implied that it was quite substantial. Instead, it was served as two tiny individual portions, there was nothing "to share" about it. It wasn't even served with a potato dish, with the explanation that "the pastry is very rich" which was nonsense. Annoyingly, one of the servings was significantly smaller than the other; an observation which my wife also overhead another table commenting on to their waitress. The dessert was the only course that was reasonably portioned. As the other courses were so small, we got through everything rather quickly. My wife had visited the restaurant previously with a friend and had a lovely meal, so wanted to share the experience with me. Instead, we left feeling that we had been conned and won't be returning.
Great service and nice staff. The food was very good, the chicken liver paté was amazing. Nice portion sizes and fair prices
The best meal I have ever had in Chester! Exquisite flavours and friendly staff would highly recommend! Compliments to the chef X x
A lovely dining experience. Fabulous food in an unstuffy atmosphere. My starter ranked as one of my best tasting dishes ever.
A fantastic little bistro with a great lunchtime menu. We try and stop of for lunch on our way to Anglesey for our holidays. It's one of the highlights
Fabulous food and service. Everything tasted wonderful. But it was the extra touches... the 'happy anniversary' and the 'do you I require a taxi?' not expected, but very welcome ... lovely evening, and can't wait to return. Thank you
Wow!!! Want to give an honest review! I have waited so long to visit this restaurant and finally made it! I have always had high expectations and struggle to find restaurants that match these, from the establishments that I’ve chosen from reviews. We enjoyed every single course and so did our children. For the first time, they actually ate everything on their plate in a restaurant. Service was perfect and very friendly! Very attentive! Will definitely return, thank you to the chefs and staff. You did a wonderful job and made our experience very enjoyable. Thank you and have a lovely Christmas.
My first time here after wanting to go for years and boy was it worth the wait. We chanced a visit at lunch time for my birthday treat. We had the 3 course lunch £40 or 2 courses for £35. The sharing sirloin steak was an additional £30. It was such high quality and they didn't scrimp on portion sizes either . My dog even benefitted with the bone .
Can't fault food or service, but the price was extortionately over the top. Menu advertising 2c for £39 per person. 6 choices in total with 2 of the mains with extra charges so effective only 4 mains on offer. Decided to take steak two share, whilst menu suggested or looked like if you were having a steak per person it was £14 extra, nope a steak to share was and extra £28 on top of the main course already factored into the 2c for £39.. basically worked out that the steak cost £88 as a main course!!
Clearly a well liked restaurant and one we had been wanting to visit for some time from recommendations. Thought out wine list but set menu didn’t really entice so opted for the more expensive option but came away feeling actually too pricey really for the food we had! I don’t mind paying a service charge if I feel it’s worth it but something lacking insofar as that personal touch from a restaurant charging these prices in our experience.
