Thoroughly enjoyed our visit for lunch. First time visiting the Star Inn in quite a long time. Would highly recommend a visit. There are some different food choices from the standard type menu offering which is great to see. We sat outside and the weather was glorious. Service very good as well.
Excellent food and good deals for a Sunday lunch. Usually they have a deal on... went last week and they had an added starter of breaded king prawns, plus a free starter if you ordered a roast. Regardless of that you can still get a 3 course meal for £15. Highly recommended.
Fantastic, had the breaded salt and pepper squid to start off,omg amazing then we both had the fillet steak with chips and pea's,cooked to perfection, great atmosphere, nice and clean, staff were very friendly and helpful, will definitely be back and post better pictures, returned and I had to have the steak again,my partner went for sea bass and we both loved it, deserves 6 stars. Don't know how they do it for the prices. You must try went back again with friends and had star soy garlic butter noodles with half crispy duck it was amazing.
A fantastic start to our holiday in this little gem! The food was incredible, amazing value for money and the staff are so friendly, helping you get the most from your meal! Would absolutely recommend a thousand times over Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available and great portion sizes for them too. Staff are willing to answer all questions you may have! Parking: Lots of parking spaces!
I was a little sceptical when I saw the menu , having not been to the Star since it was a carvery a few years back. It's definitely changed decor wise and isn't so cosy or focussed on it's history, which was sad to see. Kinda stripped out, with modern floors, fake flowers and mismatching decor to the age of the pub. The menu was the January special and printed in garish layout in magazine paper. BUT... The service was absolutely fantastic. The most polite and friendly staff I've ever encountered. The food was ridiculously cheap. You get what you pay for but it was adequate and good size portions. Deserts were large. £3.50 for diet coke probably is how they make their profits. Plenty of pensioners making the most of the affordable food. Lack of atmosphere slightly due to no fire there any more slightly cold! or any cosy touches. Cutlery bunged in a plastic box. I'd call it functional. And in these times, really spot on with finding a market. It's hard to make a profit in the service industry now and it's a bold and brave move to have such a cheap menu. I would recommend. Largely due to the simple menu and the friendly, polite and wonderful staff.
Went for a family Christmas meal out and everything was lovely!! Incredible value for money for the food! Clean plates all round!
Candlelit dinner was advertised see pic.. The prawn cocktail was a few just thawed prawns, sauce that had no flavour. Steak was nice but the peppercorn sauce was gluppy is that a word it was brown without the taste of pepper or a single peppercorn.. price £15 , so I guess you get what you pay for.. normally I would complain, but the front of house staff are lovely, not their fault that food is rushed.. I suggest the chef tastes the sauces that they serve.
Great value for money, if you want a cheap meal out main meals only £10 with generous portions for the family then I recommend you try here. However for a balanced honest review, If you are looking for something a little more special and have high standards/expectations in cookery, then I would look elsewhere. Overall a nice, friendly, family friendly place for a meal/drink out, without breaking the bank. Amazing prices, and pretty good food, noodles had obviously been precooked, but to be honest, one can't complain at those prices. Staff very friendly and attentive - recommended
Popped in for a cup of tea on the way home to feed the dogs, saw the specials and the very reasonable prices so decided to eat as the staff said they could serve promptly. All expectations fully met. Friendly staff, very prompt service and good food. One to go back to.
