Such a calm and peaceful place. We walked around the church and the surrounding cemetery, meeting a friendly cat along the way. The views of the surrounding hills at the top of the cemetery were stunning.
Standing over the village of Hawkshead this is quite an imposing sight as it is usually the first building that comes into sight as you approach the village. Definitely the stand out building in Hawhshead & a fine example of a local stone built church. Good views of Latterbarrow & surrounding fells from the churchyard as well.
Fantastically kept church and the surrounding ground's were wonderful,also what a brilliant view from up there. Normally most of the work around church's is undertaken by volunteers,if this is true,they have done an amazing job.
A stunning church with with a stunning surrounding. I even got a visit from someone in the next life while I was sat on the pews, somebody sat down next to me on the pew, the noise was clear as day. Highly recommend.
Nice little church, worth a visit. Although they claim to have all the Angels, we did not see any during our visit. I get it that angels have a busy job, but it would be nice if a least one hung around.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Stunning church nestled in the beautiful village of Hawkshead. The views are worth the few short stepson get up there
Well worth a visit. Nestling high on a hill overlooking the village and the high mountains beyond, sits this pretty ancient church. Unusual eighteenth century wall paintings appear on most walls, though an early -modern tomb remains locked. The stone benches to its rear provide a pleasant location for a picnic.
Lovely church with fantastic views!
The historical church is built of solid rocks. It is opened and we stepped in to pray. Artists come up here to paint the town as the view here is great.
