Story

Special Footwear & Orthotics designs and creates shoes specifically for the individual that requires them. Helping people with their various problems that affect their posture, muscle pain, and so on.

With 56 years of experience, and led by Master Craftsman Anthony Andrews (inventor of the Original Copper Heeler), we here at Special Footwear & Orthotics are more than prepared to take on your needs and help you with your feet.

We had such a great experience with Robert at Anthony Andrews master shoe maker. He was very thorough, informative and patient. Can’t recommend them enough for any issues you may be feeling in your feet. I went to get my feet checked and was so impressed that I returned with my two kids.
Needed extra wide shoes, decided to take the plunge and have a pair made. Whole experience has been great. Nice looking shoes, no more blisters. All staff knowledgeable, pleasant, helpful. Can go back any time if still having issues. Would highly recommend.
I have been suffering with foot pain for over 20 years and being a diabetic I know it's important to look after my feet. The diabetic nurse and doctor kept on telling me I needed insoles, but I had full feeling in my feet and so was never referred to anyone. I got used to living with pain and in 2024 I am learning to be kinder to myself and not live with pain! I searched for a place that was honest with prices and in London and I found Special Footwear & Orthotics at 12 New Cavendish Street, London. I was nervous, but the shop is filled with angels and put me at ease straight away. Barry didn't scream when he saw my feet I have flat feet with terrible callouses and he talked me through the process and didn't mind me asking questions. Barry was wonderful, patient and showed me that customer service still exists and he made me the perfect insoles. I felt relief and it was so weird to experience putting on my pumps and not having to squint in pain. I will definitely be back, it's an amazing shop I will recommend to everyone and their kindness and help have given me a second chance at living a life without pain. Thank you!
I have very particular needs and difficult feet. Barry has made fabulous orthotics, the best in years and altered and accommodated as necessary. Highly recommended!!

I had been suffering with arch pain for a while and spotted this shop whilst out on my lunch break. I was seen almost immediately by Barry, who was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He had a look at my feet and brought me two types of insoles to try. I left feeling so relieved with my new insoles, with a spring in my step! Have recommended this establishment to all.
I have been suffering with my feet for many years and whatever footwear I tried never worked. I came across Special Footwear on the internet and decided to visit their West End Shop. it was probably the best decision i have ever made. Anthony Andrews and his staff are true professionals . I was put at ease from the moment i walked in, mind you the tea and biscuits they provide helped. They gave me a thorough consultation and explained what style of shoe they felt would best suit me. They took me down into the workshop to show me how the shoes are made and in an adjoining room there is a vast stock of different types of leather from which you can choose. Three weeks later i was ready for the first fitting of the shoes. a couple of adjustments were needed but another fitting later I walked out with a most comfortable pair of shoes and my foot pain is now in the past. I can`t thank Anthony and his staff enough .
I am a 100% committed fan of Special Footwear & Orthotics because, quite simply, they are the very best not only in what they provide but in the helpful and considerate way that they go about it. Initially they made orthotics for me which immediately removed the pain that I experienced when walking and then, for my daughters wedding, they made me a pair of shoes that are the most comfortable I have EVER worn. Furthermore, their warm, friendly and highly efficient staff put this service at the very top of their profession. Look no further, these people are the very best.
I have Charcot Arthropathy in both feet due to diabetes and can not wear off the peg shoes. The NHS made a total of five pairs of shoes for me, only one shoe both fitted correctly and did not cause me harm. Reconstructive surgery was the only other option. Desperate for help I found my way to Mr Andrew's company and I now have a superbly made pair of shoes with moulded orthotic insoles which I have been wearing for three months without any problems what so ever. I have ordered a second pair and will probably order a third. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, professional and highly skilled. The footwear is made on the premises by true craftsmen and the quality is excellent. I can not recommend them highly enough. And you get an excellent cup of tea.
I was recommended this place by a keen runner. While I don't live in the U.K., I'm a regular visitor and I was staying nearby, so went on spec to see if they could help with some pain issues in my heel. They gave me an appointment within a couple of hours and I was assessed meticulously. I had some new orthotics within a few days - and while I must say they felt very strange for a couple of weeks, my very longstanding problems cleared up completely. Also, I have a slightly arthritic left knee my doctor calls it a bit crunchy!, and miraculously that gives me no more pain either. That was seven years ago. Since then, I have been back for softer orthotics for my running shoes, and further normal ones. I have recommended the place to many people - even encouraged people to travel from other countries to go there. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Real professionals.
