Very nice and helpful staff.
This was a fantastic station to both terminate and start my holiday journeys at, featuring a large glass roof and a clear station sign by the local rail company! The yellow colour scheme is utilized in the entire design to represent them, including appearing on the clear platform signs and these are of an appropriate length for various trains. Cleanliness had been maintained and the staff were really helpful, printing me and my friend tickets when we couldn't collect our pre-purchased ones ourselves due to no machines.
Words can't describe how appalling the Merseyrail network is. Trains/lines seem to suffer with constant faults, delays, cancellations etc. The trains themselves are new but have the hardest most uncomfortable seats imaginable. The trains don't have any windows, so there is no fresh air whatsoever. They very rarely put on an 8 carriage service, it's almost always 4 carriages, which means you're packed on like sardines. The staff that they have making announcements have the most appalling accents possible. If you're not from the most dog-rough part of Liverpool you won't have a clue what they're attempting to announcement. Avoid using Merseyrail at all costs!!!
Grim. Southport deserves must better. In need of major heritage refurb unless of course they are going for that 1970's wasteland look ....
Southport station is in the centre of the town with trains arriving from Liverpool, Manchester and Wigan. Quick access to shops and restaurants. M&S has an entrance on the station concourse.nA large car park is adjacent to the station.
