Amazing people. I realized I had left behind my bag with a laptop inside at a bench when I went on to catch my train. I came back for it 40 min later and lost and found department had it in a safe place. Thanks guys you are truly amazing
We walked 11 minutes from the cruise terminal to Southampton central station. Since we had already purchased our tickets through the mobile app, it was very convenient to go directly to the platform and wait for the train. One excellent feature here is the frequent announcements reminding everyone that the train will open all doors along the entire platform, from cars one to ten. This ensures that passengers can spread out and avoid crowding in one place, which is important for providing everyone with a comfortable space to travel.
I have sailed on a cruise out of Southampton to Portugal & I have sailed on a cruise from Florida to Southampton.nnBoth tines I used Southampton Central Station. The first time I arrived a few days early and took a day trip to WoolnThe second time I just got off the ship and took the train to London for my flight home.nnIn both times the station was conveniently sized, there was indoor seating with toilets and a couple of shops. The staff was also great with my mobility impaired father.
This was a great station to both arrive and depart at, with appropriately sized platforms for the trains! It is well lit late at night, navigation is easy from the signs and the waiting rooms are suitable. Departure boards are up-to-date and cleanliness had been enforced, although the ticket office was not open at Platform 4 during its designated hours.
Clean station, with indoor waiting rooms and plenty of shops to grab a bite or coffee, though they don't stay open late into the evening so just be aware.nnThe platform names are a bit odd, but there are signs and notices to platforms and live times so it's not too difficult to find the platform you need. Staff are also around and visible if you need help.nnGreat location, as the station isn't far from Southampton Centre, SeaCity museum or the University of Southampton.
