Cool spot that has its own vibe. The food menu was quite adventurous and not your typical Chinese restaurant array. Traditional Chinese flavors with a creative twist could be one way to describe the dishes. The black bean sauce on the veggies with the bream was tasty! The setting and atmosphere is pretty cool. Service was friendly and prompt. Look forward to coming back in the evening for some drinks and trying a few more dishes. Expect Soho pricing. Note the Hong Kong style French toast is only served during lunch.
Been looking forward to visit this tea room since seeing some lovely photos on IG and finally got a chance to have brunch here with some friends today. Got seated on the top floor which I think has a nicer deco than the downstairs. Since there were 4 of us so we decided to literally order everything from the weekend brunch menu except the kaya toast. Some dishes are definitely not what I’m expecting - like Scallop Prawn Toast is not the type of triangular prawn toast with sesame on top, the HK- style French Toast is as thick as I imagined it to be and the Fatty Char Siu is not as juicy as I thought. Despite some slightly disappointing dishes, the Spicy Soy Cheung Fun is real nice and I would say the Scramble Char Siu Rice is the highlight for sure. Overall the service is good and an enjoyable meal. I would still recommend this place to relax and dine in if happen to be in the area, but don’t expect very authentic Chinese food - more a fusion.
Almost didn’t go here because of the negative reviews on Google Maps, and so glad I ignored them! This place has excellent food, excellent drinks, and excellent service, all taking place in beautifully designed surrounding in the heart of Soho. Every dish was expertly prepared and delivered unexpected flavors, with the highlights for us being the cheung fun, glass noodles and prawn toast; the drink menu was great as well and I’d welcome people to experiment with new things! Prices were good and everything is meant for sharing; combined with friendly service and a great soundtrack, this is an ultimate brunch spot. Can’t wait to come back for cocktails!
Since we left Hong Kong I missed the Food and the small hidden restaurants and speakeasys... At Wuns we got authentic food which was super delicious in a past Hong Kong Setting... Made homesickness a bit better.
The design and set up of the pop up restaurant for hoko reminds me a lot on the good old days in Asia. The food was authentic, there was not too much service as it is a fast turn over restaurant, hence, can't make much comment on it. However given that the noodle was at the price of a ramen, I would have an expectation that either the main came in a larger portion of a slight reduction in price. It was a restaurant price with fast food/market service. But the food is great from a general context.
Interesting Chinese tea and food place. It is a nice place to hang out and spend lazy time with some delicious food bites organised like tapas with small portion. Tea selection is also interesting. Hence, it is not a place to fill up your belly. It is not really recommended to visit with kids as their foods are not really portioned as meal, but more of a side dish to complement drinks and tea.
We visited on a Thursday night and had a lovely experience. Initially, we were accommodated upstairs - however, feeling the atmosphere would have been nicer downstairs, he asked if possible to change table and staff was super friendly in this regard! We ordered a few beers and a tropical Mojito delicious!. As for starters, we had the bone marrow, served with some lightly sweet bread amazing! and the fried mushrooms, which were the best dish of the whole evening a must, you need to order those!!. As for mains, we ordered some pork with rice and the dumplings. The presentation was lovely and unconventional. These dishes was absolutely fantastic, nicely presented & prepared and super tasty! Finally, we order some ice-cream coupled with sweet wine: overall, I believe that desserts are a bit overpriced we paid 5.80£ for a very small scoop of ice-cream, which was disappointing in flavour & texture - I would discourage from ordering this. Finally, service was quick and staff responsive to our requests. The atmosphere was also very authentic, with soft green lights and making us feel to be far away from London! So, my rating is overall 5 stars - although, I'd recommend working on desserts to make them as special as all the other dishes of the menu!
Beautiful aesthetics, and a good vibe definitely... however food was tweaked too much and a lot of corners were being cut. Milk tea was decent though should have used evaporated milk than condensed milk. Scallops were portioned way too less for price, and the clay pot rice was just not hot and fragrant enough. Cocktails next table seemed full of creativity but highly overpriced place overall
The interiors make it here for me!!! It’s so funky and retro, I love the style down from the neon lights to the plates. HOWEVER service was terrible and to be honest the food was nothing special, OTHER than their pork pictured! I went for dinner, and I understand that the brunch menu is a lot better, and popular. I wouldn’t rule it out, and I would give it a go for brunch, but not in a hurry food account: @diningnotdashing
Great staff and very friendly service, there when you need without being overly keen. Had a relatively limited choice of cocktails and drinks but they were all original and interesting and delivered with aplomb. We ended up here unexpectedly and had a really good time. Nice atmosphere and seating areas, didn't get the tea unfortunately but lots were there for it. A bit pricey for cocktails, beers were bottled not draught.
