Story

We are a family run business. Socrates the owner and Head Chef has ran many restaurants in the past, in England and Greece, his most recent being the Holy Stone, Northumberland.

Come in for a taste of the Mediterranean, nice homemade food, that is created with the best ingredients. We are here over Lunch time and in the Evenings. Our staff will always be there to greet you with a smile and serve you some great drinks and food.

You can book for birthdays, work nights out and all other purposes. A nice romantic evening for 2 will go down a treat.

Great food, hats off to the chefs and staff. Their quality off food and flavours are fantastic and portions are very generous. I think if they done a Greek meze it would go down a treat.

“A piece of Greek culinary culture in the heart of a purely English town”

This was my first time at Socrates@No 5 and, hold me to that, it will not be the last! 
I was surely pleased to meet Socrates personally and chat a bit in our Greek language, although I did trace the undercurrent of a Geordie accent, understandable after he has been living here for a few decades. 
My review is not influenced even minimally by an ethnocentric bias as this quaint little restaurant is a sample of Greek cuisine - with the English atmosphere - at their best.
The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful and the prices are at a sensible level.
As countless persons from the Tyne and Wear region have been at least once to Greece my advise would be if in Morpeth step into Socrates@ No 5...
It will bring to life Hellenic memories...

Visited for uncles birthday at end of January, enjoyable meal with quick service however large portions.

Excellent food & service. Small restaurant, operated a 2 sitting system tonight (Saturday) early, 6pm ish & late at 8:30pm.
