The cog wheel railway is definitely an engineering marvel and a treat to watch. However the steep prices and half hour window at the summit ( you have to ride the same train back) means you are essentially paying for about 3 hours. The ride plus the parking and refreshements at the summit, will set you back dearly. I suggest the Welsh Highland Railway, which is a better value. You are better off watching and enjoying this train from a distance! 

If you are still planning on riding this, the 9am trains (Diesels) offer some discounted ticketing.

We had a lovely trip to Mount Snowdon. The train doesn't go to the summit due to snow on the track. But in May it does. The countryside is stunning with beautiful waterfalls and you can see for miles. It was very cold when we got off the train so warm clothing is recommended.

Loved visiting here. Was a lovely train ride up the mountain, very easy with young children. It was so exciting and we luckily had amazing views once we got to the top. There was a handy shop at the top and it was staffed with friendly people. Booking tickets was very easy and all staff were lovely

We didn't actually go on the train up, we walked, but the Llanberis path goes almost parallel to the railway tracks. Beautiful views! Best to check before travelling to go on the railway line up to the summit because the train was only running up halfway due to large snow drifts over the tracks. It is well worth going to the summit.

A well run service, clean tidy trains with stops and info along the way. Pretty pricey in all areas, from the off to the gift shop for two people I was £75 down. £4.50 hotdog really? Dry day is essential as you wouldn’t see a thing.
