A truly memorable experience. Took the railway as short on time and energy, went on the steam train as opposed to the diesel, thought it would be more romantic, in reality I think the diesel would be far more comfortable and definitely less jolty. The views on the way up and down are amazing only bettered by the view from the top, you really feel your on top of the world, or at least Wales.

This mountain railway journey is very spectacular, be warned though tickets are limited and we had to wait for about 5 hours to board our train. Some trains are steam and some are diesel, we were lucky to get a steam engine. At the summit you have to be careful to get the right train, it's a long walk down if you miss it. Journey to the summit is about an hour as there are several stops to allow trains to pass each other. If you find yourself with spare time in Llanberis the lakeside railway and mining museum are both worth visiting. Highlight of our holiday in North Wales, the summit views on Snowdon are fantastic.

This image is of what is technically known as a Pater Noster lake. Of course this is Latin which means Our Father. Pater Noster lakes were formed by the glaciers thousands of years ago during the ice ages. The reason is that the ice deposited the dirt and rubble down hill forming a dam. When the ice melted a lake was created. In some places you can see a series of these lake going down a valley from different glaciations or from different glaciers being formed down a valley. The history of the Earth explains so much about everything on this planet. It is humbling.

Very nice trip and experience. Interesting locomotives and beautiful landscape. After the trip the restaurant offers a nice place to rest.

Quite steep in more ways than one. Fun little trip but couldn't go to the summit due to weather conditions. Was given 20% refund because of this which was a relief! Be aware you'll also have to pay £8 at the car park across the road if you're leaving the car for a whole day.
