A beautiful experience,nBeing on holiday needs an open mind.nWhen we saw the advert for the steam train on the island line. We planned it in to our week and was really worth it.nSmallbrook station is incredibly well kept and just a hop from the island line between Ryde and Ventnor.
Brilliant day out for steam railway enthusiasts and those exploring history too. There are cafes and a shop with lots to choose from. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful too. I'm disabled and every care was offered to me, making my day extra special.
Quiet station that connects to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway; make sure to check the website to see when the steam railway is open and also when the last train connects back to the Island Main Line due to there being no public footpath or access by car.
A small isolated station accessible only by Island Line or Isle of Wight Steam Railway services; no footpaths or car park provision. With the Island Line refurbishment the platform has been raised to match the new stock. There is a small shelter and some seats but not other facilities. There is no ticket machine here for Island Line trains, see the guard on board to buy these. When the steam railway is running a ticket office is open for heritage trains though I recommend doing this in advance; online sales have to be exchanged for tickets so have your reference email printed or kept in your device.
Smallbrook is a connection for island line to the steam railway so open only when the steam railway is running has the former signal box back in place
