The Island Line The Island Line was an amazing experience during my visit to the Isle of Wight. Reliable service, clean trains and friendly staff 5/5.
A lovely town to wonder around with so many different shops. Absolutely amazing bookshop babushka books. Also the beautiful Shanklin chime.
Nice station that has just been refurbished for the new trains, it's about 15 mins walk to town and can get a bus from outside down to the beach,
Nice quaint railway station at the end of the SWR Island Line with services to Ryde which connect to Hovercraft and Catamaran services to Portsmouth & Southsea. The station is roughly a five to ten minute walk from the Seafront. On my visits in late 2020 on both occasions the toilets where locked out of use.
Really well maintained station with regular departures. There is a ticket machines and toilets. One negative is the toilets are open for short hours on a Sunday.
Attractive historical train station which is where the train terminates before heading back to Ryde ferry terminal. Parking is only £1.50 per 24hrs & there are several eateries nearby for refreshments after your journey.
Needs a lot of work to make it more interesting and exciting. Still 100% than Sandown though.
Train broke down en route then eventually broke down completely on arrival. Whilst I’m sure this is no one’s fault, what’s hard to understand is why staff locked up the toilets and then left a platform full of passengers who’d already been on the train longer than expected and who then had to wait even longer for the next train! Everyone was complaining and moaning - and justifiably so, too. Appalling customer service!
Walking past station and very rude member of staff asked us to move our car from the strictly staff area - we don’t have a car and were on foot. Lovely welcome to island railway services
