Had some surprisingly fantastic lasagne here while biking down the Wye Valley. Barman was nice and they have several vegetarian options, including a Penang curry and spinach feta which looked tempting. They have a £3 minimum I believe for using your card. Overall the people are nice, the food is good, the toilets are clean, 10/10 would recommend
I guess it's your typical village pub not that I've been to many of them. We parked across the street make sure to enter your license plate at the bar, had some drinks yay, cider on tap - unfortunately not a thing in Germany and the Welsh Rarebit another yay - first time ever. The service was friendly, the outside seating nice and the toilets clean. Inside it was rather dark and smelled like frying oil - one star off.
Our first, but definitely not our last, stay at the sloop inn. Was a last minute decision to go away but very happy with the sloop. Room was a nice size and the bathroom was spotless. Staff were so friendly and helpful and food was amazing and huge!! So worth the money. Highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Nestled in a valley by the river, I spent a glorious few days at The Sloop Inn, resting after a grueling hike. The host and staff were extremely friendly, and welcoming, and the bath in my room was worth the price alone. Breakfast was cooked to order and was very nice, as were the meals I ate there during the evening. The locals were also extremely welcoming, on seeing me reading at a table by myself, many would invite me to join them at their table. The Sloop Inn, is a place that I would happily stay at again, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I think that the rooms leave a lot to be desired staff did seem sympathetic although couldn't remedy the fact that damp was clearly there cleanliness wise not great a shame as location seemed nice yet another business affected by covid.Dont like leaving bad reviews but it clearly needs sorting for it to be getting reviews of old good luck. Rooms: Damp cold need updating and decorating
Called in on new year day after walking the dog a friendly welcome, an open fire and a good lunch.Service: 5/5
£60 for a lime and soda and 13 minutes in the car park....a cautionary tale. Overlooked the car park notice and got fined £60 for a 13 minute stay I was meeting a friend in the pub garden before going walking. I called the pub who said that whilst they own the car park it's managed by someone else Smart Parking and there was nothing they could do. Apparently you have to leave your car registration number at the bar when you buy a drink, to prove you were a customer. My friend who bought our drinks wasn't asked for her reg number or reminded that she needed to leave it. Car Parks like this are a very Smart way to make money and a not so Smart way to lose customers.
A local pub for local people. Of all the pubs in this part of the valley this is the one least likely to give a warm welcome to tourists, or even people from the next village. It's been this way for years. I guess they have enough business, which is fair enough. Drive on to Redbrook or Tintern if you want a friendly atmosphere.
Generally pleased location excellent food good value for money would recommend a makeover in the quiet months as certain areas are in need of TLC.Rooms: 2/5
Great go to destination on your day out. Easy parking , very very friendly team and very close to Tintern Abbey. We opted for a light lunch snack which was very nice and excellent value . We felt very much welcomed by the locals who went out of their way to get us going again after a bike issue.. Easy 5stars !
