I always start with three stars and adjust accordingly. Our visit was at 11 am on Sunday 24/7/2022. Food. 1/5. Out of stock on some items. The fried breakfast failed in every dept. Egg yolks hard. Sausages very bad quality. Potato scones were undercooked. Bacon paper thin and dry. Eggs benedict were 5/5. Muffins 3/5. Staff 5/5. Attentive, friendly and helpful. Our barmaid could not do enough and the barman was friendly too. Cleanliness. 2/5. Quite a few tables were in need of a clean up but left. There were five of us, we cleared our own table. Toilets were fine though. Atmosphere. 3/5. Good old Wetherspoon aura. Overall. Not enough staff to cover the traffic, food needs big strides to become good and the staff should be given a medal for such good service under such strain.
Nice friendly, spacious Spoons. Food was good. Sadly to close down soon Wish all the staff good luck.
A Wetherspoon on a shopping parade. It's the usual Wetherspoon style, with helpful staff. Lot's of interesting info about the backstory of the pubs name.
Good place a for a quick well priced pint. Also serves food and located in the middle of Shawlands, the Sir John Stirling delivers exactly what you would expect from any other Witherspoons. There is Wi-Fi but no music instead you will find the placed filled with conversation. It's a chilled atmosphere and the bar tenders are all nice people, it is also wheelchair accessible.
We were in Glasgow for a few days, went to a Wetherspoons restaurant in the City Centre, and were asked to leave as they had no water supply. We jumped in a bus and went to the Sir John instead. It was worthwhile and gave us a direct comparison with the one in town we had visited earlier. There was a slightly smaller menu, meals were cheaper, but it felt different, more like a local than a busy city centre pub. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was good, but took some time to prepare and there was a decent beer. There was some mild astonishment from the locals that we had chosen to go there on holiday.
Every time I'm in Shawlands, with or without the family we always pop in for lunch. The food is always delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I occasionally go in for a pint too, and I really enjoy a bottle of Baltika. Russian lager, and it's also a very reasonable price. I would recommend anyone who hasn't been in here to give it a try as the staff are also very friendly and attentive. There are a few changes in place in view of Covid 19 for the safety of customers and staff, but it's nice to relax at a table to enjoy lunch or a beer.
Ace value. We may never cope when they close then demolish this community pub in March 2023
Been before for a meal and it's been fine. Today I think the chef must have got a bit muddled up as I choose a curry and the poppadoms were soggy and the nann bread crispy. Was edible but not their best effort.
Have drank in here many times over many years now and hasn't changed. Lots of faces from the past still having a pint .. long may it last! Best prices in Shawlands for sure .. that's for their value meals and value drink. Have been in just for a coffee also. Kids can eat In back of pub with family and plenty of seating ensures almost no wait. Toilets always been really clean in here when I've visited. All round good boozer Enjoy!x
What to say not disability friendly at all step ramps up to front door. Disabled toilets available cheap drink cheap food. Toilets especially the gent's had dozens of fist marks on the wall toilets were also smelly and un inviting yuk
