We had a sylvan pet lodge which although quite small was perfectly adequate and had all we needed, the bed was comfortable and the wood burner was a nice touch, there was no starter pack but all was available to buy from reception. There was a fair amount of wildlife visiting the lodge decking area including a frequent squirrel which was nice. Rufford abbey was a nice walk from site without needing to take the car out, we also visited Sherwood forest to see the major oak and we visited Clumber park, both were a short drive away. I'll be honest and say when we went it was good value but I wouldn't want to pay what they charge in school holidays as it seems expensive.
Lovely lodges, every thing you need. Beautiful setting, lots to do, some really lovely walks. Just wished there was a coffee shop on site but not far to drive to sherwood pines...dog friendly too
Not the cleanest place we ever stayed but served as a good base for Sherwood Pines, Go Ape, pony trekking, Clumber Park. Everything we visited was a 10 to 15 minute drive away. My only advice would be to take the long way round on arrival. Check out Rufford Ford on YouTube and you'll understand why I'm warning you!
The log cabin friar tuck was rustic & in the woods just what we booked with a smell a sweet smokiness. Really clean & crisp sheets & towels. Reception staff could do with a little more friendliness & treating young adults better. The pool should be allowed to be booked for more than 30 minutes as this includes getting undressed & signing in. All facilities should be included as is with all other hoseasons we've been to not a charge of £10 for tennis, table tennis & game of pool for 1 hour per day! The animal corner is wonderful & feeding them every day is lovely. The surroundings are beautiful & the woods have play areas tyre swings & little plaques everywhere, a fun amazing part of sherwood forest. We loved our log cabin & never drew the curtains as the feel of the big windows with nothing but trees squirrels & rustling leaves was heavenly. The place was beautiful. :
I've wanted to come here for so long but I never managed it, finally got a last minute deal. Arrived at just after half four, reception was closed. Thankfully a guy pointed us to our keys and a rough direction considering it was dark and we have never been here before. Got in and had one toilet roll, and no welcome pack! Not a tea bag or anything so we had to go out and get supplies! Thank God for Google maps! Found a Tesco and got back! Tbh I like the park, although it's a lot smaller than I expected and I'm a bit miffed that I haven't seen reception at all! I mean I could be anyone, doesn't make me think I'm a valued customer, especially as my husband is battling cancer so I'm nervous of anything bad happening and if he has a turn, I have no clue what to do, where any staff are! Or any help. And after holidaying with Hoseasons for over 12 years I've never not had a welcome booklet, with places to go, or things to see, not even a phone number to anyone! So...... Its only a 3 star rating, especially as we came home today and the road the park is on had 'road closed' signs up! I mean the panic of not being able to get into the park! There are definate improvements that need to be made! The lodge is OK, clean and has a basic supply of stuff. My bedding is a bit stained which is a bid worrying but it looks like it has been washed so that's something! I came here to connect with nature and I have done that, the sheep in the petting Zoo are great! See them every morning, shame they are more popular than any member of staff!
Had a great stay. Enjoyed the site and accommodation Great for visiting Rufford Abbey too.
Nice stay. Not a lot to do on site. I had to travel to do activities with my little one. Cabin was nice, clean and comfy. Friendly staff. Playground: Not much of a play area
Was a lovely cabin, but not very much to do on site. I would recommend researching the area and planning things to do off site before arriving
We got a real bargain Monday to Friday break in the Sylvan Pet Lodge. For the money, you can't moan, it was comfortable, warm plenty of heaters provided and there is a log burner, fuel purchased from shop, no starter pack and very quiet. Views out the bedrooms were onto secluded woodland and the lounge looked onto decking where Ducks, Birds and Squirrels frequented our bench. Only slight issues, lodge 5 which we were in had a horrendous toilet seat, it cuts into your legs/arse, the double duvet was too small, had to nick the single one for extra coverage and the lounge was pointed straight to the lodge opposite's lounge. No WiFi, but had patchy phone signal. Very very minimal utensils in kitchen, to the point I think people had been nicking them! Dirty plates in cupboard also. On the whole, I would come back again though, very relaxing place and close to lots of good walking, hardly used any diesel!
Lovely park, our family loved the outdoor experience here and had a great experience at the archery range. Our only negative is around the cleanliness and standard of the lodge. VERY dusty and dirty from check in. We couldn't use the shower in cabin 2A and I personally think the sofa's and beds are in need of updating.
