Priced comparable to other local rental companies. Excellent rolling stock and good choice of sizes. Only allowed 200 miles per day. Extra mileage charged at 30p per mile, a bit steep. I was only made aware of this after hire agreement signed and was handed keys. This was never made clear in my emails with Shelbourne or in face to face when agreeing the hire. This was then acknowledged by the manager and a reduced mileage rate offered. Now I know their system I would hire again.
Decided to rent a van to drive over to Connemara for an adventure weekend. Never rented a vehicle before and was very anxious about it, thanks to all the horror stories i read or heard about. Megan went through the whole process with me, honestly and sent me on my way, at ease. On the bonus side I am supporting a local business and not one of those horrendous international hire companies. Simple, quick, affordable and reassuring service.
Shelbourne service is, in my experience, excellent. Prompt, concise and reassuring responses, quality support in all interactions. I would not pass them for any vehicle hire needs. Particularly superb experience during my hire with Joshua.
This is the ONLY place to rent a car in Ireland. GREAT customer service! And drop off and pick up at Dublin Airport made our experience even better. AND our car was a HYBRID, so we barely used any petrol!

The staff at Shelbourne Motors were extremely friendly, efficient and helpful particularly Diana and Jason with whom I dealt with face to face - I did have reason on a couple of occasions to phone the office and I am delighted to say that I was never left hanging on and the person answering never once told me to call back because the staff member I had asked for was not there! Instead the magic words which every customer wants to hear were uttered 'May I help you?'. If there was one negative point then I would say that it was not being taken through the technology on the vehicle in more detail for example when we first stopped for fuel it took us ages to find the switch for opening the fuel cap - opening the "moon" roof when you are looking for the sunroof can be a nightmare and we finally got the hang of the on board entertainment system about 48 hours before returning the vehicle!
I recently rented a small car from Shelbourne for a long visit to Ireland. The vehicle provided was in great condition, handover and return at Dublin airport was smooth, and both Josh and Gavin who I dealt with were courteous, efficient and friendly in any communications. I'd highly recommend Shelbourne Vehicle Rental as an alternative to those larger car rental agencies and will definitely use Shelbourne again.
