Very tasty fish & chips in a diner setting. Food was very good, not oily or greasy at all. Only complaint is that the fish broke apart very easily, but not that big deal because it was not too breaded. You basically order at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready. Minna behind the counter kept things funny and lively while we waited.
Was recommended this place by my driver and they didn’t disappoint! The haddock is what I got and it was huge! Cooked fresh and was delicious. Nice place to have a chippy meal at. Added some salt and vinegar and it was everything I could ask for, not too greasy. Customer service was awesome too! I will definitely be back. I’d highly recommend this place. Come out and support your local businesses and avoid chains!
Atmosphere is great and well worth a visit for that alone. The food was so so. The cod a bit too wet. Good cod is flaky and more white colour. The batter on the fish was good, crispy but not oily. The food was served fresh and piping hot. Service a little slow - approx 10 mins from order to ready. Hygiene was good but could have been better.
A brightly lit fish and chippy with nice decor especially in the restaurant side. Food looks good but sadly doesn't taste as good. The actual cod was good but the batter lacked any flavour and was a tad on the soggy side. The chips was lacklustre with not a great texture. Mushy peas were more liquidy peas and was devoid of any flavour. Prices were decent all things considered but, personally, I don't think it's a "best of London" fish and chips type place anymore. Very good fish & chips restaurant in the heart of London. We had their goujons, chips & scampi - their were all very good. Their tartar and spicy mayo were good as well. Staff could be a little bit friendlier, but according to them, they were a bit understaffed.
OMG!!! I've had traditional fish & chips here before, which were excellent, but on this occasion wanted to try some of their other offerings. WOW! WOW! WOW! Was recommended to try the cod wings which I didn't even know existed and oh my gosh, they were incredible. Almost like an amazing plump juicy chicken wing, but the fish alternative. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Also decided to order my fish grilled and asked Chef to make it spicy. Cannot recommend enough, even if you're passing through and want a quick snack, the Cod wings, could have a restaurant all to themselves. MUST TRY!!!
If you like a decent meal of fish & chips, then you are at the right place. BUT, if you want a good or great level of fish & chips, then sadly I this place isn’t the one! I ordered the large fish with chips, with curry & tartare sauce. When I received my order, I noticed that my cod had skin on when I had asked for it to be off & it even mentioned it on the receipt. So when I let the young man know about it he just said “sorry” but never offed if I wanted it changed to skinless. I didn’t want to make it on issue, so I just took it without insisting on new fish. The large cod was large and freshly fried. The batter on fish was nice non-oily with the exception there were some soggy parts. The cod inside tasted nice. The chips were just about ok. They could have been cooked for a few more minutes, as there wasn’t really any crisp to them & some seemed quite dry and mushy. They were not oily which was good & the oil they were cooking with seemed like it was new & clean. The curry sauce was too watery and not thick enough for my liking. Flavour and spice wasn’t bad though. With a drink the bill came to £20, which is nowadays the normal price, especially in central. Next to the counter there is a selection of sauces which you help yourself to. I would go back there again, but not in a hurry at all. The seating outside which is where I ate, was pleasant and relaxing.
Legendary place!! Food is cooked fresh always and great variety of options. Portions are good and befall excellent value. Always a place to sit down inside and eat. Always a london cabbie ordering so must be good!!!Food: 5/5
A bit more expensive than your normal fish and chip shop but i think they are quite popular so that explains it. I love that they have sweet potato fries and outdoor seating! The only thing is I had to wait so long that all my friends had finished eating when I got my food!
There is a takeaway part or the main restaurant. I went to the takeaway part. There is high seat tables in there so you can 'takeaway' but dine in too which is what I did as were many others. Menu is good less than the main restaurant menu but has a big variety. The restaurant part is more formal. I went with the scampi and new potato. Order at the counter and they will call your number when ready. At 18:45 on a Saturday evening, it was busy but not too much. Nice place. Clean. Portion size is perfect for one. Mine took a bit longer than other customers as I went with the scampi and new potato but worth the wait. So good. Freshly made and presented in a cardboard box like I was at the seaside! Delicious and not greasy. There is disposable cutlery on the tables. Any sides and sauces like mushy peas or curry sauce are an additional cost. Would recommend. Located near Marylebone Station. Not easy to find unless you know the area but worth a stop for sure if you are in the area. Recommended by Time Out. Not too pricey. My difference between a 4 and 5 is staff could be friendlier.
