Just set up a school account with Scarthin Books. Can not fault the service so far. Very prompt with the books and customer service was fabulous. I'm looking forward to continuing to order from them.

Definitely on the quirky side of bookshops. I've been going for forty years and still don't know what is where. The second hand selection is amazing, the kids room is good but could probably benefit from a few more recommendations. The cafe is great. I dropped the star because it's not a place to find something in a hurry
Wonderful book shop. My daughter was about to begin a joint degree course in French and Portuguese, and was having trouble finding her course text books, but Scarthin books, got them for her, no problem! I think they're amazing, better than Waterstones !
A very cool old book shop with so many nooks full of books. It has old and new with various interesting rooms. There is a cafe upstairs with a selection of coffee, tea, cake, lunch options and lots of vegan/gluten free. Definitely check out the toilet if you're there, it's like some 18th century bathroom!
What a wonderful bookshop and cafe. I loved this place - to anyone who loves books it is heaven - selling new and secondhand books - I've never seen so many books under one roof. The cafe serves lovely coffee and I had some banana and chocolate cake which was absolutely gorgeous. I could have stayed here for hours!
A little gem of a bookshop, selling new, second hand and antique books. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Added bonus of a café with some outdoor seating, which has some vegan options. Well worth a visit for book lovers.
Love the children's section especially. A brilliant place to browse. Such an institution.
