A real nice place to visit and experience a steam railway with amazing people running it, well worth a visit and will be going back.
We were staying in a nearby hotel and heard the chuff chuff chuff of a steam train which drew us like a magnet. Run by knowledgeable, helpful volunteers this is a chance to visit a bygone era. Please go and take a trip and support these volunteers who do such a wonderful job preserving these iconic steam trains of our heritage.
Great place to take the kids and they are free
Not much to say about this one. Not much organised at stations. View is good at times but just plain for most of it. Quiet trip. There are better ones out there. But the staff are friendly and do a great job keeping it running.
Very helpful, friendly & efficient staff, well worth a visit & a ride on the railway, steam engine to Matlock, diesel return to Rowsley.
Arrived in Matlock on the x17 bus from Sheffield, a bridge was out so took another bus to Darley Dale to meet the train there. Steam on one end, the ever reliable D8 on the other. Slow and steady for 2 and a half round trips. Photos taken, a look around Rowsley and left 3 hours later. Fine trip.
If we are in the area a visit to Peak Rail is a must. We like to check on any progress since we were in Matlock. This particular day was a Family gathering with 2 little grandchildren who both enjoy a journey on a Steam train. We couldn't leave without a visit to the gift shop. A good day was had by all.
Very pleasurable experience and happy to contribute towards keeping steam alive.
