## Scandinavia Coffee House, Angel Hill Haven't been here for what seems ages. They claim that the cheese scones are home made but they're nowhere near as nice as normal. Service seems a bit in disarray too which is unusual. I do notice lots of new staff in here so maybe they've got new owners here? They have also reprinted the menu's and they no longer display that they only take cash so that's a positive sign. I ordered almond tart but it took a while to arrive and they're not overly busy. All in all, I'm not having the best experience here today. ** UPDATE ** Just heard the waitress talking to other customers.. they've got a new bread supplier and the scones came from there instead of them making them here like they normally do. New chef starts Monday apparently.. wonder what happened to the other one? Maybe there is a new owner!
Great little place, old fashioned but nice, take your time, they have a selection of cream teas, toast to a roast, nice cake selection, you can eat out side if you wish but its a bit cold^_^
I was really surprised when I first went in. It was better than I expected. I love the new decor that uses old planes parts. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection. I enjoy the overall experience. I look forward going there for my meals.
Nice cake, decent prices. But the service was slow and not particularly warm or good at remembering our order. We were brought our drinks but had to remind them after 10 minutes that we'd also ordered cake. To her credit, the proprietor then apologised and gave one of the two of us a bigger bit of cake. Oh and you can't pay by any form of card here, just cash or cheque.
Friendly staff. Nice selection of freshly prepared items. Close to Abbey. Reasonable prices. Good number of indoor and outdoor seats. Quirky decor most photos shown are before recent refurbishment. Has a "recycled" theme with works of art and furniture on sale. Be sure to look carefully around you while you visit as something might catch you eye. If this review is helpful please press like
We were spending Easter weekend with our friends and on a trip into Bury st Edmonds, decided to drop in for tea and cake. We were greeted by a young chap and told we could sit anywhere. The cafe was nicely decorated and furnished, it certainly had a nice friendly feel about it. Cakes and sweet treats looked yummy and prices were reasonable. The two men opted for a cream tea which had a deal if you ordered the tea and scones together. Sue was quite keen to have the cream tea too, but as she doesn't like tea, she asked if she could swap it for a coffee. The answer......a flat NO! Not even an apology or "I will find out for you". So both Sue and myself opted for tea/coffee and cake. On reflection I don't think we should have stayed on principal. How can one cup of coffee be any different in price as opposed to tea. Most places like the Scandinavian coffee house would be more than obliging..... especially in Scandinavia itself! We even questioned the request on leaving but the reply was still the same and in a curt manner too. As I say, pleasant cafe, yummy cakes.....but apart from that unfortunately the rating goes down and we won't be visiting again.
Nothing to write home about really. Service could be much friendlier. Our cutlery and meal were almost literally dumped on our table. My meal was also not really what was described on the menu. Coffee was a little burnt and the milk was not texturised at all. Food did taste good though.
We visited this place today because we were here for the Xmas fair & were greeted & shown to our table & ordered the leek & potato soup which soon arrived with chunky bread but we were disappointed & had to leave it because it tasted quite vinegary! My husband went & paid but didn't mention it! It's the first time we've been disappointed because normally we're satisfied with the good food & don't know what went wrong this time.
Quiet little place, surprisingly, as it's right on the corner across from the Abbey. Choice of food was good, arrived quickly and was of good quality. I'd definitely visit again. Why only 3 stars? The toilets. One was out of order and to be honest, they could do with being refurbished.
I always enjoy going to this place for lunch with my mum. There are lots of interesting sandwich fillings, a good choice of hot drinks and also light lunches. Not much Scandinavian about it but it has a nice traditional tearoom feel. It would get 5 stars but the service has often been a bit grumpy in the past.
