I’ve been coming to this pub for many years now, whether for a quiet meal or a monthly event they kindly accommodate for me, and I’ve never had a bad experience.nThey have a fantastic team who are always willing to step in and help wherever they can, accommodating any requirements without hesitation. The kitchen staff are equally friendly and often come out to the front to make sure customers are happy with their meals, which is a really nice touch.nI’ll definitely continue to visit and enjoy my time here. Great work to the whole team—please keep it up.
Stopped In Towcester for one night and popped in to the Saracen's Head on a Saturday night for a dinner. Food was really tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Thanks to Caitlin, Lisa and Dave for making us feel so welcome. Great atmosphere and a 2-piece acoustic group started up later in the evening. We had a great night and will be back next time we're in the area.
On our rugby tour and we stopped off half way from Pontefract on route to Bournemouth. 41 of us and every meal was pre booked with every variation the menu had to offer. As soon as we was seated the food started coming out in a well organised manner. All 41 people received exactly what was ordered. An absolute perfect dining experience for such a large group. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work to get everything right and making us all feel very welcome.
Booked in Sunday morning around 11am, lots of availability all afternoon, but selected 16:15. Arrrived and ordered drinks at the bar before going to our table. Was seated and after about 10 minutes the server came to take our order, at this point we were told they only had 1 Turkey left and no beef. Was told they had been very busy and had sold out. Clearly very annoying as all the tables still had the Sunday menus out, which are really geared around the roast. We therefore left and found someone local that was able to manage there restaurant correctly.
Overall a Positive Experience with Great Staff Support.nI recently organised an event for my employer at this venue, including a board meeting for seven people, 14 overnight room bookings and a private dinner for 19. Overall, the experience was very good, with just a few minor issues.nnCommunication by email, especially with Kerry, was excellent and made the planning much easier. I did have difficulty reaching the venue by phone, as calls were routed through the Greene King switchboard, which couldn’t reconnect me back to the site, so email ended up being the most reliable method.nnCheck‑in was smooth, and staff offered help with luggage, which was appreciated as there is no lift. My room was clean and comfortable, though very warm on arrival, and some colleagues mentioned that the smell of cleaning products in their rooms was a little overpowering. Noise travelled quite easily between rooms, which is probably due to the age of the building. A bedside plug socket would also have been helpful for charging my phone.nnFood and drink in the afternoon were great—our sandwiches and coffees in the afternoon were really nice. The meeting room worked well, and although we had an issue setting up the TV, reception staff were quick to come and help. We weren’t rushed out even when our meeting overran.nnDinner in the private dining room was lovely, with plenty of menu choice. A couple of dishes had to be chased, and one dessert didn’t arrive, but overall the meal was enjoyable.nnThe biggest disappointment was the early bar closure. As a team that rarely gets together, we had hoped to stay later as we’ve been able to at other hotels. The bar was closed by 11pm, despite us being residents, which cut the evening short. It would have been useful to know this when booking so maybe overtime arrangements could have been made for bar staff.nnBreakfast the next morning was excellent—fresh, cooked to order, and much nicer than the usual buffet-style options.nnDespite some small issues, it was a good overall experience, and the staff were helpful throughout.
