Not awful food, but forget about specifying how you like your steak, they won't listen. The "rib eye" came as small thin strips of well done beef when I asked for a medium/rare steak. Waste of money. We had around 4 different serving staff, none of whom knew who ordered what and they ask for service charge? They argue it's traditional Italian, but the only authentic quality is that nothing was on time apart from the wine. There are plenty better places to go than this poorly ran chain.

Really tasty food, and much more interesting than your standard pizza-and-pasta Italian. The tapas are a great way to try a lot of different things in one go, which is great, since there's so much to choose from. Excellent wine list too (Italian, of course!) and reasonably priced. The food's quite pricey, (you can see why it's worth it when you taste it!) so it's a good place for a special/celebratory meal, rather than a regular meal out.

I couldn’t believe it when I found a slice of bacon in my seafood dish. I’m a non pork eater for religious and cultural reasons. I have never eaten pork in my entire life.After pointing it out I received a lovely apology and free desserts.I have been visiting that restaurant for 15 years and to think that was their answer to serving me a dish with bacon in it. I would have thought that they would make our entire meal complimentary but we paid for the main, the drinks and the sides after this terrible ordeal. We returned after a week for my birthday and were greeted by the manager and a full apology was given. Although this should not have happened in the first place, they made sure we had a lovely night, San Carlos still remains our favourite restaurant.

New tapas style is fantastic, every dish was amazing could of happily gone through the whole menu. Asked for a red wine recommendation and it was perfect. Really friendly staff. Will be back soon.

High class. Sophisticated. Reasonable. Awesome knowledgeable Italian staff and amazing food. One of the best restaurants in Leicester
