I booked in for a facial and was recommended microdermabrasion to clear up my blocked pores and breakouts and to have an additional light treatment for better results. I took their advise and went ahead with the treatment. The outcome of the treatment was anything but as described and within days I had severe acne on my left cheek and neck. I have never suffered with acne before (only the odd couple of spots that were quick to clear up) and even now almost two months after the treatment I'm still suffering despite also having been prescribed medication by my GP. Having spoken to beauticians I have since learnt microdermabrasion is not recommended as a solution for breakout prone skin as it removes a layer of skin as thus makes the skin more susceptible to infection. I would of expected the staff to know this but they denied this when I went back to the shop claiming I already had acne when I went in for the treatment (photos prove otherwise) and were very unsympathetic. Treat their recommendations with great caution - I will not be setting foot in the establishment again and would not recommend their services.
