The Ryde Transport Interchange is a key transportation hub located in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight, UK. It serves as a central point connecting various modes of transport, including buses, trains, and ferries, making it an essential gateway for both residents and visitors. The interchange is strategically positioned near Ryde Pier, offering seamless transitions between the mainland ferry services, the Island Line railway, and local bus routes. This connectivity enhances the ease of travel across the island and to the mainland, supporting both daily commutes and tourism. The interchange's modern facilities ensure accessibility and convenience, contributing significantly to the region's transportation network.
The new transport interchange. Well it has vastly improved the run down look of Ryde. It's still not too clear for people that have never been here, where to go and if in a rush no disabled access apart from going all the way round for a wheelchair to cross from bus station, train to hover. The bridge is iconic to Ryde to watch the hover come and go but this could be improved by adding a longer bridge with it all ramps for wheel chair access.
Approaching the end of a refurbishment for the Bus Station. Very nicely done, and the buses on the island are very modern and comfortable. You can catch a bus from here to every town and many villages on the island.nnThe travel office has stayed open unlike many other bus stations around the UK.nnThe railway station is joined to the bus station, with trains every half an hour to Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. Also connects to the IOW Steam Railway at Smallbrook Junction. Check times to see when it's running though.nnThe train also runs along the pier to connect to boats to Portsmouth, and right next door to the railway and bus station is the hoverport for hovercraft to Southsea every 30 mins.nnThis really is a template for how transport should connect in every town and city. The town I live in has a population of 60-70000 people and no bus station. 100 miles from the sea though, so we don't need a hovercraft.
The public transport service on the island is excellent. Consider leaving your car at home.
Situated right next to Ryde railway station. Has an information centre too. Recommend the best way to see the Island is to purchase a 24/48 hour Rider Ticket and hop on-hop off at various attractions/destinations. Family ticket also available. Frequent service to most places.
