Yes it needs some TLC in places, but largely the communal areas are tidy and clean. Library panel walls, regal furniture, that sort of feel. It’s an old building of character. Food is fine, bar is fine. I guess the complaints are mainly about the older style rooms. Staying fairly frequently as a business sales broker it gives me easy access for Gatwick, London and South East. The newer rooms are good, and as you would expect them to be in any similar Pi or TL, you just need to know which ones to ask for !!! Regular stayer’s probably have a different opinion and or insight to that of one nighters. Staff are always great, helpful, mixed nationalities, and a wide spectrum of character’s. Naturally the web photo’s are of the better modern style rooms. I read one review, noisy planes..? Well yes, it’s at the foot of the runway of the UK’s busiest charter airline airport so planes would be an issue …. If like me you are a bit of an anorak, grab a wine and sit out front watching the aircraft in and out that’s a bit like saying, “stayed at the Gatwick Hilton, very loud aeroplane noises”
A lovely hotel in its own grounds. I stayed one night before flying out and had dinner in the bar. I found the the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant is in the hotel and offers a carvery for a reasonable price or you can choose from the menu in the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. The parking for the two weeks was very good value for money. The hotel is about five miles from Gatwick north and the taxi which took about twenty minutes cost £9.00 Please hit the like button if you found my review helpful. Thank you.
5 stars PLUS! Fabulous one night stay prior to our Gatwick flight. Friendly and polite staff throughout this huge hotel, lovely decor, discreet 70s/80s piped music in the restaurant, and the food... oh the food!! The all you can eat carvery buffet was succulent, plentiful, varied, and served on HOT plates... resulting in my eating much more than I've eaten in a very long time!! We booked the Purple Parking package with meals and 15 days parking at the hotel.... incredible value!! We will be back!!!! One small gripe to conclude however, the bedrooms have a skylight with a woefully inadequate slide cover. It is manual, so you need to be tall and stand on the bed to reach it, and see picture taken at 2a.m. due to external security lighting the bedroom is never dark!! If you have a pair of night sleep eye masks... bring them with you if you want a good night's sleep :
Our usual B&B was fully booked, so we made the, now looking back, bad decision to book here. Just don’t stay here, seriously. If you like sleeping on a mattress that I presume is made from solid wood, then sure, this is the hotel for you. The rooms are small, cramped and if you want to watch the TV, you better bring a pair of binoculars. The rooms aren’t cleaned properly as we found several toenails on the floor! Noisy neighbours, screaming children and bouncy floors; this is one we definitely won’t be coming back to. The only positive is the parking included, which is probably what they heavily rely on! I cannot review the food as we didn’t partake. If you want a nice stay before you fly, look for the many B&Bs around the surrounding area.
Cheap room with shuttle bus to the airport the next day. Main reason I booked this was to leave the car here whilst we were on holiday, which I have to say was good value for money given it was a room for the night and 2 weeks parking for about £80. The room was very small and basic with no windows, but was clean. We arrived fairly late after a 6 hour drive, and there was only one place that we could eat, the food was OK but not great for what we paid. My advice stop for a KFC or something before you arrive! The staff were very friendly and helpful.
As we arrived, the parking attendant was great and showed us to a spot close to the hotel - along with some good humour and banter. The check in staff were friendly and helpful and booked taxi for us and explained about the evening meal protocol. Our room was basic but clean, as was the shower and toilet. The evening food was a hot buffet with two choices of meat - and had some of both ! Plenty of choice of nicely cooked vegetables, followed by pudding and cheese & biscuits. On our early morning return, we were welcomed in to wait a short time for the restaurant to open so we could have tea & coffee before starting our trip home. I realise that this sounds like an advert but nice staff, ok room & good food and parking for two weeks all for under £100 - what’s not too like ?
We’d paid for early check in and arrived at 12.15 to be told il see if a double room is available as they are all booked !! We were just handed the key and not pointed in the right direction, the heat in the room was shocking far to hot and stuffy . We stayed on a sat evening and placed the do not disturb sign on the door handle and still the housekeeping team knocked on the door several times at 8:30 am and entered and then again at 915 am without even knocking the second time . Might I add it’s a Sunday morning with the do not disturb sign in place and we didn’t have to check out until 11am . No parking when we arrived back from our evening out so reception had to call through to someone and we had to wait to be shown where we could go . Absolutely no customer service with a smile or enjoy your stay nothing !! We’d paid for breakfast but quite frankly did not fancy eating the food based on our experience.
First of all, the Romanians cleaners were very good. They were acting very quick in solving my requests, even at odd hours, when i could see they were obviously busy. Awesome room service. Then why 1 star only? Two reasons: 1. A booked repeatedly after 1 or two nights, while staying there. The price different approximately 50%, from one night to another, with total disregard towards me: I was a client willing to remain a client for few more nights, but they offered zero discount. Nothing. 2. Absolutely no flexibility from the reception. You get what you pay for, not one single inch more. Other hotels do.
yikes, worst place ever. SELL OUTSRooms: 1/5
Friendly, helpful staff. Budget accommodation. Some rooms very small and decor tired but clean and everything you need is provided. Hotel has character. Buffet meal exceptional value.Ideal for Gatwick. Taxi service to airport excellent.
