Went into the store and it was completely empty no other customers were around for at least 30-40 minutes, and the customer assistants refused to do a gait analysis because we hadn't booked in and they "didn't have time". Even after explaining my mum had travelled on the train 3 hours up to Manchester and really needed some new shoes. I understand if the store was busy the need to book in or if there were other customers but there wasn't. I think this is absolutely ridiculous of Runners need and poor customer hospitality. Because of this I even then proceeded to buy my shoes and my mums directly from Asics at Cheshire oaks. Will not be returning to the store
Booked a gait analysis several days ago for 11.15, arrived in the shop at 11.10 to be told it was cancelled and they were just about to email me 5 minutes before the appointment??? because they only had 2 members of staff. I understand that short staffing happens but 1 more notice could be given if an appointment has been cancelled as I travelled the whole way into the city centre for this to now have to go home. 2 you had only opened? There wasn’t a queue out the door of people, spending 30 minutes with someone willing to spend a lot of money on shoes wouldn’t have been an issue, different if the shop was packed. Have lost a customer and won’t be recommending it to any of my friends.
The lady that served us was very helpful. Good range of shoes and accessories!
I went to runners need on Deansgate for advice on new trainers for my first marathon, it was a fantastic experience and it was all down to Matt. Matt went above and beyond to help me find the perfect trainers, he went through all the details with me and listened to my opinion to figure out exactly what I needed. This is so important to me and Matt was nothing short of amazing, a credit to the company : thank you so much!
I was booked in for Gait Analysis for 10:30, turned up on time, but someone without an appointment was already having it completed. They offered to rebook but there were no appointments for over a week. I wouldn’t advise if you are on a tight schedule/coming from a distance.
Great new running shop in the city centre. Booked an appointment for a gait analysis, received expert fitting for my new running shoes, also picked up some running clothing while I was there which was on offer.
Guy was very helpful and knew his stuff in terms of what shoe would be best suited for me
Went to look at the HOKA trainers today. The gentleman who worked it was super helpful about the sizes and fittings etc. I didn’t buy them as I was unsure of colour but he was very patient and helpful and was polite even after I decided I didn’t want to purchase that day.
Bought my running trainers from here. Staff very helpful.
I came into Manchester especially for a gait analysis which never ended up happening as "we don't do that for trail running shoes incase it marks the treadmill or damages the shoes." Fair enough - so put me in road pair?!?!? Nothing happened. NB I had stated in my booking that I was looking for trail shoes... The shop had a good range on display so I enquired which models were Gore-tex: in order to tell whether a pair were GTX the Sales Assistant said "let me check on the computer." I indicated that it is normally written on the shoe itself. He then began to mansplain to me how different manufacturers use different waterproof products and "sometimes put the wrong thing on the shoe". What?!? Not what Runner's Need... I actually have a few years of outdoor retail jobs behind me and I understand that people have specialisms within the sector but these days for people to come into store the service and knowledge has to be there. Hire personable, passionate staff... then train them! As it is, I've bought my trainers online. It saddens me really because people need jobs in shops and I wanted to support that.
