Top wedding venue or over-priced poor quality B&B / wedding factory? This is my personal opinion, we all have our own expectations, so if these things aren't important to you so be it. Reserved venue for wedding on back of staff describing quality of product.. should have checked back when it was actually set up! Venue is not in great condition with paint peeling from ceiling. The bar area looks like it came from the set of Fawlty Towers. There seems to be an attitude from the owner that they can get away with charging what they like, without putting in the work. We visited on the first opportunity after booking when permitted by the owner and the venue was dressed for a wedding. Unfortunately this was way after we had to secure the booking with a deposit. Just some things to bear in mind if you are looking for that special venue, 1. Don't expect the linen to be pressed flat, the photos were taken the day before a wedding and the tables were set complete with creases 2. Don't expect the outside including planters all five of them and gazebo curtain to be in good state. The dirty gazebo curtain with holes in is a special touch! 3. Don't expect matching condiments on your tables. 4. Don't expect the day staff to have a clue about what can and can't be done for your special day. I'm sure the owner will have some responses to counteract my point of view, but my fiance was that disheartened we have cancelled our booking.
Exceptionally friendly and relaxed without compromising on service. I would highly recommend, especially for dog owners, as they are welcomed and the rooms are lovely. I attended my friends' wedding and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Beautiful food, surroundings, staff and venue. Thank you very much! Penny and Ned stayed 28th May 2018 xx
Attended a wedding celebration there. Beautiful location, delightful boutique rooms, top-quality food. We had a family "cottage" suite with three separate bedrooms, a dining room and kitchen for £124 - total bargain. The staff are helpful and courteous and breakfast is included and delicious. Totally recommended, but loses a point for having a cash-only bar and not being able to charge drinks to your room. You have to request cashback from reception - max £100 - which doesn't go far on a big celebration. Cash only??? In 2017? Hotel brushed this off as normal: guests didn't.
Amazing venue, staff are extremely friendly and I enjoyed one of the best weddings as a guest in my life.
I would not stay here again, the rooms are over priced l found toe nail clippings and what was either a dirty rag or dirty pair of pants behind the bed side table, thick mould around the bathroom window. The plug in our bathroom wouldn't come up to drain the water whilst we we're having a shower, there were a swarm of flying ants in my mums room we informed staff and they wasn't interested . Speaking of the staff l have never met such rude unprofessional people, we was there for my sister's wedding and to quote one of the members of staff " let's just get this done and over with" l was mortified she said it to me. They was trying to shut the bar at 22:30 because according to the manager no one had bought a drink for 40 mins which was a lie, so we all obviously went to the bar for a drink for to say "well it only took them 40mins to fine it". People we're just dancing having fun and catching up with family member they don't see for years at a time, oh and the fact the drinks are way over price too. On leaving the manager at reception was giving hand over to someone her words were " there's a gentleman in the bar area he can stay till 11 he's fine he was staying here for a christening but the rest get them out" which was directed at our party. I know it wasn't cheap for my sister and her new husband, and to charge the prices they we're £112 for the room a night, the cheapest drink was £5 you would of expected 5star treatment. Not enough seating for all the gusts during and after the wedding only had 80 guest's. Not enough food for all the guest's. Very very poor attitude! Would not recommend this venue for any special occasion.
Really nice, pretty place in a location not far from the M62. The venue is a decent size without losing the intamacy of the venue. Having the doors open to be able to sit in the terrace is great too. The hotel has nice, friendly staff too. The rooms are clean, tidy, and more importantly has nice biscuits for when you arrive!
But writing my review after spending 30 min into the stay. Nice pleasant staff. Nice scenary. Hotel Does not serve food only breakfast. So finding meals within the area more time consuming. Taxi service is limited. So no drinking until settled in for the night. Room adequate, average standard, but bathroom poor beyond acceptable. Unable to fit in the shower cubical. Unfair to call it a cubical but more of a cupboard. Unable to move properly within the space. Shower curtain so large once drawn, it limits the space even further within the shower. If your over 5tf 9 make sure room as a bath.
When we first looked round this venue we thought it would be ideal. The flies in the ceiling curtains for weddings, weeds etc, tired looking furniture we thought would be fixed as it wasn't really wedding season yet. How wrong we were... We had the best wedding, loved every minute but not because of the venue or owners but because we and our family/friends made it special. The hotel itself was a disaster. The flies were still in the ceiling curtains, weeds in pots, empty pots with just earth in and just a general lack of care and attentiveness. This also translates to the bride and groom. What venue actually charges their wedded couple for a room in the first place never mind the fact it was tatty with a dirty shower that didn't work and also no hot water. When I questioned this we were told well some guests already had a shower earlier so that is the reason. When your charging a bride and groom 112 pound for a room of this poor quality the least you'd expect is a working shower. Luckily we only had the misfortune of one night but my parents who spent 2 nights here also had no hot water for 2 days. They also forget to mention the bar is cash only... SERIOUSLY ! I have actually e-mailed the venues management to complain on behalf of myself, my bride and my parents amongst others and we have not received a single response. The place is a shambles and a rip off. There are cheaper and nicer alternatives. CHOOSE THEM. K.Roberts
1st and last time I will ever attend a gathering here . Definitely would not recommend attended a family wedding to find the staff very rude and not helpful staff also seen eating the hot buffet when there wasn't even enough to go around the guests staff was closing the bar at 22.30 after saying nobody had bought a drink for 40 mins when family was either dancing or chatting after many yrs of not seeing each other rooms not up to standards for £112 per room breakfast appaling very upsetting for bride and groom put a downer on the overall day .
My fiance and I looked at Rudstone walk as a venue for our wedding. It is lovely, great setting, beautiful views and well planned out accommodation. We were taken around the whole site by Claire, who was brill, not pushy and knew exactly what she was doing. We are going back soon for a second viewing with our parents but are sure they will love it too.
