After walking past this cafe on New Years Day and it being full, I finally got round to trying it. If I'm honest, I was slightly disappointed. Tellingly, it was almost empty when I visited at 15:30 on a Saturday. There was nothing wrong with the service or the staff, the chap who served us was attentive and helpful. The interior is best described as shabby chic, veering towards the shabby side more. The cafe is confusingly referred to as a coffee shop and chocolatier, but the extent of the chocolate was a hot chocolate, a luxury hot chocolate and assorted cakes. The coffee wasn't bad, though I cannot comment on the food . All in all I felt like it was a mediocre coffee option in a city which has plenty of alternatives available.
Cute little cafe, with a lovely courtyard seating area out the back. Good for breakfasts especially, and I'd definitely recommend the exotic fruit smoothie!
Had breakfast in the morning before heading off to my morning work routine. I was greeted and welcomed with excellent front of house. With extensive knowledge about the food, and despite me being very picky with my food, I was accommodated with all my needs wonderfully. It’s a pleasure to eat and grab a coffee at this place. Will definitely go again. Best regards, Mir
I come to this cafe very regularly either on my own with my laptop, or with different friends and family who I'm constantly introducing to their amazing paninis, which are excellent value for money! It's a family run business, the service is fast and the staff are so lovely - April in particular is always friendly and makes amazing poached eggs! When it's busy she is always prompt and calm, even if she's running the cafe on her own! Highly recommend!
I love this cafe. It's my favourite place for breakfast. It's not trendy just really friendly, excellent food and service and very good value. Simply a great local cafe. Also sells delicious chocolates.
Went in to meet a friend today, I was in the building for a matter of seconds to look into the garden to see if she was there and the man working rudely shouted at me that toilets were only for customer use. I told him I was looking to see if my friend had arrived and he abruptly told me I should have said hello first. He shouted this in front of the two customers there which was pretty embarrassing and unprofessional and they also looked shocked at his out burst. Me and my friend live around the corner and come here to meet now and again. Safe to say won’t be returning ever again. There are better places around that don’t treat potential customers like free loaders
With our office being a stones throw away, we could not be any luckier. The Rubicon on Chandos Road is the place to go. If you are looking for a relaxed, friendly environment with staff that really make an effort to make you welcome, then drop by and try them out. The food is superb, and prices to match. They also make a cracking coffee!
Lovely little cafe. Amazing bacon sandwiches and breakfasts are delicious. Wife and kids love the gorge seating area out the back when the sun's out!
The staff are lovely and the coffee is delicious. The friendly atmosphere makes the cafe feel like a cozy living room, and it's hard not to feel relaxed when I'm in here!
Very rude waiter. Accused us of bringing food from outside when we went for a coffee with our children. My son had a piece of bread in a bag. Horrible and shame for the reputation of the place.
