"The Royal Oak is a country pub set in a quintessential English village standing alongside the church, thatched cottages and a duck pond. We are located just off the A339 Alton to Basingstoke road 4 miles from Alton.A large car park, pretty garden and covered outside area combined with a smart interior featuring an eclectic mix of furnishings make this a superb venue for lunch or dinner. We offer a fresh, daily changing menu with plenty of pub classics as well as seasonal specials and fresh fish.Dogs are welcome."

The Royal Oak is a great pub. The food choice is excellent. Be prepared to pay that bit more extra but definitely worth it. I had a burger. It was the best I have ever had and the chips cooked to perfection.
We had the fish platter for 2 which was fantastic. Beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. It's a nice spot in the garden to sit out with a beer and watch the gliders soaring over there is a landing strip nearby- they are such quiet things. Parking: Easy parking around the side of the pub Dietary restrictions: Very good at catering for allergies.
Brilliant pub with superb menu. The food was excellent some classic dishes and some more unusual but all very tasty, the wine list was extensive but not intimidatingly so, and the staff were so friendly and very welcoming. I look forward to another visit when I’m next in the area!
Enjoyed our walk across the fields from the neighbouring village of Shalden, as my son and I had planned to spend some time together, whilst my wife and daughter were out Christmas Shopping. We had a pleasant lunchtime and a fair bit of the afternoon here eating good food and drinking beer. There was a welcoming smile from the staff, who were both friendly and attentive. All of which added to a nice cozy atmosphere with the warmth and crackle of the logs burning in the fire place. It may have been raining and blowing a gale outside but it was well worth our wet and muddy trip. With our bellies full of beer and food, it was time to go home, but we both agreed it was a very good place to spend a Saturday afternoon just before Christmas.
We found this place out of the blue while looking for a decent place to have dinner and it was fantastic! Everything was great: quality food & wine, the Chef is great and the staff and the owner are super friendly. Very good service! We will be back soon!
Best place I've eaten in a long time. Great seafood menu and grilled meat menu. Highly recommended. Nice staff. Its clean tidy and the produce they serve is outstanding.
Fab. Lovely food lovely pub and very welcoming owners. 2nd time there will be going back.
Whole hearted service. Refined cuisine and very tasty!
Update....since i last ate here the ownership has chsnged. The same applies but i feel the menu has improved. An English country pub doing a great job of the balance between food to drink ratio required these days to keep us punters coming. Sometimes I eat here and it's been great food. Sometimes I just drink here on a country walk.....what's not to like. That's why I give it 5 stars. Well kept Ales to boot.
Woeful vegetarian options. Half a roast cauliflower on its own as a main dish, no sauce, no accompaniments for £16 and I can make a better risotto in the back of a van, peas and carrots may as well have come from a freezer bag. Starters and dessert were great but wouldn't rush back.
