Nice clean traditional pub with rooms above. Lovely staff, great service & one of, if not the best breakfasts we've ever had on vacation. I had the veggie breakfast & there was so much flavour in the mushrooms, tomatoes & poached eggs. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection + they provide grapefruit juice at breakfast which was a bonus for me as I have one at home every morning & I've never been able to get it while we're away. We've already recommended the Royal Oak & Garstang to others & would happily stay again.
Heard good reviews about the food here. Was not disappointed. Steak and Kidney pie with home cooked chips and veg was lovely. The steak was so tender. Lasagne for my good lady went down a treat. Good size and quality. Good blend of ingredients. No hesitation in returning here to eat again.
Went for dinner here with my family. Had the pea and ham soup, just like mother used to make, my nephew had paté that was equally delicious and well presented. Then I had chicken in a cheese sauce, potatoes and veg, absolutely couldn't fault it. 1 had a nice piece of plaice, and 2 had rib eye. All really scrummy. Very reasonably priced as were the drinks, especially for the UK with its ever increasing, ridiculous price rises. Very friendly service. Definitely will be back on my next visit to the UK. Well and truly deserve the huge amount of clientele. Thanks
Without doubt the best sandwiches money can buy. Simply filled to busting. Enjoyed a lovely pot of tea for two whilst planning our next port of call. Car park at back of hotel was very handy.Service: 5/5
We came away for the night to see friends. They were already stopping. We met in the Afternoon and grabbed a table because we were eating. Glad we did as most of it was booked Saturday and it got busy. The staff was so friendly. The pub had a great feel. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. We had a fantastic meal. I had a wonderful special: a Trio of Fish, Cod, and Salmon and Hake with Butter Cream Prawn Sauce, Mash, and Veg. Beautiful. For pudding, I got the "Manchester Tart" but it wasn't as you'd think, it was more of a cheesecake-type thing, but, utterly tasty. As I said we also stopped and this review is for that also. It was a lovely room, very spacious, and had everything you need +plus more, like extra pillows and a blanket. The pub closes at midnight and it is not very noisy, the clock does charm outside at 8 am on Sunday tho. But that was fine. Then, for the breakfast. WOW. Such a great breakfast. Juice and fresh fruit and then a great Full English - nice mushrooms and black pudding. Top work. All round. Couldn't be happier.
Quick service, well priced and a good selection of drinks on tap. Carling, BM, Strongbow, Strongbow dark fruits, Stella, Coors and more. The food portions were massive. We would definitely visit again.Service: 5/5
Great food lovley helpful staff. However, it is difficult to get a table as always fully booked but when we have been there there are lots of empty tables with reserved on. They were empty for the whole time we were there. Customers could have used these tables and been out before the people who reserved the tables arrived. Poor booking system.
Traditional pub, oozing character. The best pub food in Garstang! Always a friendly warm welcome and dogs allowed - our dog loves the attention from the staff.Rooms: 5/5
The location is, formally a classic vintage public house, the feel and vibe being run on there own supply. The carpark to the rear however is compact and not much space especially when it serves food, does get busy so keep that in mind. The access to the property from the rear of the building has wheelchair access ramp but didn't see the front. Was greeted with warm vibes and friendly environment. Staff was helpful and made our stay one of most favourites on our travels. Got the keys and made our way up, one thing noticed, there isn't no clear indication on directions for room numbers. They're upto standard with byelaws, regulations making the customers safety there number one. Do love the smell of diffusers or such. The single room, was spacious to put everything down. Bed was comfortable with one pillow and a second in the cupboard as stated on the Information banner. One thing I also noticed, not short of plug sockets, noticed 3 doubles in total. Also supplied with small kettle and cup with options available for tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Aiming to help with making places like these be the best for future reference both for future customers to come and the owner property aswell. Things that see in most places are the layout of the building complex which could be accessible on doors for safety tips and standard emergency evacuations. The bathroom has towels which are greaty sized, including shower gels and soap with glass, just make yourself aware, the switches are on the bedroom side for bathroom light. Including the shower isolator. The Menu for the restaurant is basic and nothing over the top, keeping it simple an optional for all party members. Have gluten free and vegan meals. Also have a special board if not feeling anything on the menu But keep in mind on the time you visit for the restaurant could get busy from 6pm. At the same time I believe it's pet friendly as seen numerous dogs with owners. That being said, onwards, the table didn't feel big for 3 party members. layout felt crowded but its understandable as soon as the time approached for meals, area some what got busy, thats always a good thing. You know the food is going to be worth it. Lamb fell off of bone, food was piping hot. The fillet, requested medium rare and came out medium well. Although I was surprised it was certainly mouth watering. Top Marks to the chef. Staying for 2 nights, got the option for breakfast and the choice was fair and they're willing to be open for what you request if you don't want a full English. Meal might vary from previously Staying there but would certainly go back if the option occurred. Would suggest they could look at way to improve the tablet layout for party members during breakfast period but it's not essential. Still a pleasant place to stay and would gladly recommend this for both restaurant and staying over.
Always extremely friendly and accommodating. We go with large groups often 15+ and they are always wonderful! Food is always lovely. Staff always fabService: 5/5
