My partner and I visited Route 39 a few times while in the area and enjoyed brunch and dinner. The pancakes were much bigger than expected and the hash browns were super crispy and overall tasted delicious. The ribs were falling off the bone, the hot dog was tasty and so was the Steak & eggs that was cooked perfectly. The Oreo milkshake was lovely, but the strawberry and chocolate we tried not so much tasted very synthetic. Staff were polite, we were served in a good amount of time and the price of the food is very reasonable for what you get. Overall, we both really enjoyed the experience/food and would recommend for anyone who enjoys diner style food!
Good themed restaurant and suitable music to the era. Prompt friendly service. Food was nice and hot, huge portions and great taste. We chose the Tuesday special of crispy wings roulette! We were very happy with the choices of dips the chef chose. We also had a salad bowl which was lovely and fresh, big portion and very good value for money. We saw other guests having some amazing special milkshakes with ice cream and whipped cream. They looked delicious, but we resisted! An enjoyable meal and we would recommend. Vegetarian options: Big variety Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, wheelchair accessible and with disabled toilet facilities. A member of staff kindly brought me a second chair so I could prop up my crutches rather than have to put them on the floor which would have been a trip hazard.
The night started off with us waiting for about an hour for our food. This was probably because of the distraction in the kitchen. Throughout the night, an individual in casual clothing was drinking a beer and was constantly in and out of the kitchen talking with all the staff. This was both irritating as we had to wait, but also very worrying because of COVID issues. He was entering the kitchen and was clearly not on duty, in front of us, the customers. When the food finally came, we were both disappointed. I chose a ‘Surf n Turf’ meal and was particularly looking forward to the ‘King Prawns’ on a skewer. I didn’t get that at all. What I did get was very small cocktail prawns that seemed to be flung on to my steak. When I expressed this to the waiter that was on duty, he said he was sorry this wasn’t what I expected. The menu clearly advertises one thing, but does not deliver the food described. My wife had the pulled pork burger that barely had any barbecue sauce on it. She was also disappointed with the quality. We would have loved to stay for one of the desserts, they looked great, but it was so late that we just had to go, and again, we didn’t really feel safe in the restaurant anymore. The last thing that really irritated us was the very end. I had to go up to the counter because the waitress on duty was busy talking to someone inside the kitchen with her back against the dining area. When she did give me the bill, she clearly wasn’t concentrating because she left all our dirty dishes on our table and didn’t even bother taking them when giving us the bill. I was surprised to be billed for the ‘King Prawns’ too, as I expressed to the waiter that we weren’t happy. I then had to once again leave my table to go to the counter as the waitress was busy talking rather than waiting for me to motion to her that I was ready to pay. I might add that there were about 12 people in the dining area- a manageable amount for two waiters.
Almost almost there. Couldn't fault the service, cleanliness and value for money but there were some minor tweaks that need addressing. The fries had cold spots, I'm guessing from being frozen but not cooked long enough. The portions are massive! Honestly it's superb value for money but it's almost a Man vs Food challenge. Seems silly that most people had things left on their plates when they were finished because it was too much. Excellent selection of drinks by the way. Reckon with a little tweak here and there, they will nail this place.
We were pleasantly surprised about how good Route 39 was after a bike ride from Padstow. We were spoilt for choice on the menu options...a foodie dream! The American theme was great and the food and portion size lived up to the US experience. Great food and service.
Visited Route 39 in Wadebridge whilst at around the town on the 26/03/22. Ordered the big breakfast, large coke and to finish the waffles with lemon and sugar. Very quiet in the restaurant, very few in there eating. Was seen to promptly and given a table by the windows. Order taken quickly and lot too long wait for the food to arrive. The big breakfast looked very nice on first impressions. Eggs cooked perfectly nice and runny, bacon looked and tasted good. Not greasy or fatty. Hash browns were ok but did taste slightly greasy. Nice fried bread. Didn't want beans so can't say how they were. But the sausages were the main disappointing factor. Very greasy and mushy. Tasted and looked like the cheap cafe one's. No flavour at all. The waffles with sugar and lemon, with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream made up for it though, although they could have been warmer. I've only been there once before many years back and had one of their burgers. I enjoyed that more than this time. Staff were friendly so no issues with that. Would I go back again ? Possibly and give them another go. But my advice is to avoid the sausages at all costs.
Ordered a cheeseburger with fries. Cheeseburger was very plain, no salad or sauce, just beef with cheese. Fries were soggy and seemed like an afterthought. Not what I expected from an American themed restaurant. In addition to that, the burger had a weird charred/burnt bit that fell off the meat, while the meat itself wasn’t burnt. I wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be returning.
Friendly and quick even though short-staffed due to someone being off. A good quantity of food you will not go hungry here.
Really lovely place, staff all really helpful and patient indecisive children lol. Extensive menu that all sounded amazing. Food was really delicious and really reasonably priced. Would definitely return! Highly recommend!
It was OK...I love the American diner concept and the staff were friendly but the food was just a bit bland. Good menu though...we had the burgers.
