Went to the Endoscopy unit today. I must say from the young lady who booked me in to the team that carried out the procedure and all the stages in-between the staff were marvelous. I was very well cared for and the staff were all friendly. I know it can be a nightmare in A & E but i had no complaints. Its quite a large hospital over several floors and outbuildings. It also has inside shops incase you're caught on the hop.
Living on the edge of Sheffield our GP has on numerous times tried to offer this as an alternative to the Sheffield hospitals. With all their faults they are far superior to this hole. First and last ‘visit’ today. I am only glad it was nothing serious and was a pre arranged appointment. From beginning to end a shambles. First is the signing in on the touch screen thing. The instructions were ‘Go through the double doors,’ didn’t say which ones, ‘and sit in the seats in the left then watch for your name to appear on the screen.’ It should have read, ‘Go through the double doors. Continue along the corridor until you come to the end. Then turn right and go down the corridor some more and then sit down. Oh, and don’t bother watching for your name on the board as there are not any.’ These instructions obviously led to us sitting in the wrong area. Luckily probably from experience someone directed us to the right area. This might sound picky but it’s really important to get to where you need to be and with the overall experience being so poor it just adds to the issue. Then, keeping in mind this was a morning slot, our doctor was some how at least 1 hour behind. Just ours. Everyone else was arriving and being seen within minutes. It also seemed like it was a multi stage appointment so I do not have a clue how far behind they actually were. I really feel sorry for anyone who has to use this hospital.
My daughter GP referred her to A&E due on going kidney infection as she has infection needs intravenous antibiotics. The man she saw said she hasn't got infection without looking at her bloods etc.We decided to leave rang GP. hospital rang GP she has got infection and they want to do a scan if she returns. Never in all my life seen any like it up there.Must say the nurse was lovely not her fault .How my daughter was treated by this man was disgusting. We will not return to Rotherham she's had sepsis once and was very worrying as we nearly lost her.GP sorting it.
emegency care. I do not recommend I spent 18 hours there sitting in the waiting room.after the accident people lay on the floor no one even asked if everything was okay or something was not needed. I do not appreciate them. The doctor must recommend the answer. I asked for paracetamol for pain three times, I didn't even get it so even animals can't be treated like this I understand the emergency care is extremely busy. but I believe most of the staff should be more human and helpful.
I had an appointment for a CT SCAN 09/01/23 and I was seriously impressed with their dedication, organisation and efficiency. I was seen on time, the waiting room wasn’t packed and moving quickly through patients. The staff were BRILLIANT , professional and kind. So a big congratulations to the CT STAFF FOR FIGHTING BACK THE TIDE
I don't think it was just my experience that's out of the ordinary so I cannot understand the 1 star reviews, but I'd rate it 6 stars if I could, personally I was sent from Doncaster A&E after having waited for 8hrs for a Doctor to see me just to ask me the exact same questions that the first nurse from the reception asked, he's seen me for 15 seconds sent me to x-ray and then to Rotherham Maxfax. I had a buccal abscess so they tried to drain that without surgery and general anesthesia but in the end the surgery was needed, I did have to wait a few hours for the bed but I was told this beforehand, I did get it on the same day tho, I've been regularly checked and given painkillers when needed, my fever was always kept under control, I was told that the surgery might be the next day or the one after, which is not something that would seem like a problem to me, it's to be expected we need to understand as well that the government just keeps making cuts and making these people's job harder. In the end I actually had the surgery on the first day after being hospitalised, I had everything explained to me multiple times, at the time of surgery I had all the reassurance in the world that I might need, it was my first surgery ever so I was nervous but everyone was so so professional and calm and thoughtful of me, encouraging me and being so positive, I have absolutely nothing to complain about, the team that performed my surgery was 10/10. Abscess drained and 5 teeth removed, basically saved my life. After the surgery everything was perfect, regular checks again, painkillers offered that I refused because they've done such a brilliant job that I barely even felt any pain afterwards, was discharged not even 24hrs after the surgery, so how can I have any complaints? From the nurses to the cleaning staff, kitchen staff and especially the surgeons, I thank and applaud them for the brilliant job they've done and I hope they'll be able to carry on in the same way, and for those rating this 1 star, go to the Doncaster one if you want an actual 1 star experience, trust me, there is no comparison
I would like to say a massive thank you to the Consultant and Nurses for the excellent care I recieved in A&E last Wednesday. Although the department was constantly busy with long waiting times the standard of care from the team was outstanding Thank you all so much.
Wouldn't get seen even if you was the only patient in the hospital. Rude staff who would rather mock you and tell you to find someone else to ask. Absolutely no urgency out the place especially when your symptoms get worse and are facing losing a child. Honest opinion, even if your stabbed right outside the hospital find another one to seek attention as the staff here wouldn't bat an eyelid
Cannot fault the staff, they work hard and deliver good levels of care. This trust however, is in dire need of modernisation, the building is showing it's age, parking is a free for all and isn't enforced and out of hours there are but a couple of overpriced vending machines to sustain you.
Took my 2 year old who had a high temperature of 41 degrees. Doctor said she has bronchitis so needs to be kept over night when beds ready. Waited there for a few hours then came another doctor who just started her shift, gave us a prescribtion to take outside to pharmacy and told us to take her home. Now because of this clumsy doctor who prescribed "capsules" to my 2 year old instead of liquid, my daughters breathing has got worse and keeps coughing every minute. Got in touch with the pharmacy and the gp surgery and they said they cant do anythong as it was prescribed by AnE so therefore I need to contact them. Called up AnE and I was messed about for half n hour trying to get through and when I finally did they said the doctor will call back to prescribe another medicine in liquid form. Its now 1am and still no call from doctor. We are now taking her to Royal Hallamshire hospital as my 2 year old daughter is feeling absolutely terrible. Thanks to the doctor who prescribed capsules to a child. She shouldve known better.
