Great surprise! We've stopped there on a long journey from Manchester and we discovered a very good pub! Food was way above all our expectations. We had a wonderfull evening. If i ever come by again, for sure I'll stop.
Called Sunday 05/02/17 on the spur of the moment around 4.30pm to ask if they were still serving Sunday lunch was advised that it was served until 5.45pm I then asked if we needed to book a table knowing that it was 4.30pm and they stopped serving at 5.45pm we maybe didn't need to book and just turn up as we were coming along straight away anyway?? I was very abruptly told by the owner that yes I would need to book a table as they get busy very quickly so yes as I said before you will need to book a table. I don't appreciate been spoke to in that manner by some patronising person who really needs to learn how to speak properly and listen properly to customers. The younger members of staff were very polite but as for the owner not so. The food was ok, soup was luke warm, main meal nothing to write home about. We will not be coming back.

Oh dear ! vry dissapointed , it was like going back to the 1970,s ..food not great .. crab salad was ok , but the crab was all dark meat , looked very unappitising . My Husband had the meat pie , the crust was very thick and stodgy . The younger members of staff were very polite and efficient ,but the owner was not friendly , very condesending attitude, with a scruffy apperance , she should really make an effort to look smarter . The decor is appalling , dirty carpets , and the bar area in the dining side is so close to the tables that its very unpleasent, we asked to be moved to another table . We will never return ,and wouldnt recommend this place to anyone . Dont waste your time and Money.
Outstanding and great value! Meat melts in your mouth and you will struggle to eat it all we had the mixed meat sunday dinner very clean and staff really nice. Pity I didnt take me phone to show you some pictures #bestkeptsecret#outstandingfood#willbeback.
Lovely inside and nice play area outside. Sunday dinner was so lovely and desserts extra lovely. Some of the staff were ok but one lady was particularly rude cos we had arrived early and sed we wud have to sit outside.
Been twice now and the new owners have done a fantastic job, the food was lovely on both occasions. Especially recommend the Sunday dinner
Just nipped in with my wife and 2 kids on a sunday evening, as soon as we walked through the door we were tag teamed by two members off staff telling us very abruptly that this side is closed, which was fine because we where planning on sitting outside anyway. Then when i asked what time they close i got told somthing about a bouncy castle? I explained i dont care too much about the bouncy castle and asked again what time they close, 10pm was the reply, ok i said. I then paid for my drinks, i forgot to ask for my daughters bag of crisps so i asked as the member of staff as she gave me my change, so with a large sigh she went and got them for me. We went to sit outside and within 5 mins we where locked out! By this time it was only 20:11. Why were we treated this way?
Been this evening very last minute after hearing a couple of good reviews ..... I have to say the staff were most welcoming and the food was amazing ..... definately worth a visit x
Very nice Sunday dinner,only just managed to finish it there was so much and good value for money..will defiantly go back
