I had a lovely morning playing The Prince’s course this morning at Richmond Park Golf Course. The staff was very friendly and I was able to hire some clubs. The clubs were a bit old and beat up but I guess that’s to be expected with a public course. They still played fine. The course itself is beautiful with lots of birds and foxes on the course. I landed my ball on the green with a nice pitch shot and this fox darted out of the bushes and tried to steal my ball haha. It was quite comical and a unique experience. Keep an eye out for those sly foxes. Also, bring extra balls because you will lose a bunch unless you have great aim. The rough is extremely thick and dense. While I lost lots a few balls I also found a few so it evened out. Overall a fun course close to London. I’d definitely go back.
Had a lovely scramble with a good friend on this 18 hole course after hitting the driving range. I’m a complete beginner so I was happy to hit a few straight shots! Driving range is decent and has targets etc Cafe is reasonably priced and lots of seating area Recommend sun cream for hot days! The refill station at hole 9 was welcome, and the price of stuff in vending machines is cheap for chocolates etc
Played on the princes lovely course moderately well kept but for the price and accessibility it's amazing great staff, and an amazing day out Update, have played on the dukes very nice golf course, well kept friendly players and staff, really enjoyed it.
Excited about playing a course that I’ve not played in 15 years. The course layout is good, very flat and straight, however bunkers are very well placed and the fairways are mostly undulating so shot selection is key. Course is okish, could be better, however greens are true can be attacked very well. The rough needs work as when a ball lands in it it’s very tough to find them. Staff are very friendly and there is a good beer selection!
We played at Duke’s course. Enjoyable course with rental clubs available. Tips: Better bring own clubs. And a lot ~~~s of balls ~~
Just shocking upkeep. Not worth the money at all. They print cash as they rely on people to come and play and have no desire in making sure they come back. The course is in poor condition. Difficult to tell the greens and tee boxes apart from the rough. The fairways are in poor condition too. Half the puts turn off at a right angle given how poor the greens are. Would never go back. Clubhouse is pretty new and good but that’s all I can say in terms of positives. That’s why this has 1*
Friendly staff and accommodating. My partner and I got there a little later than booked on a rainy day and they were okay with that. The Prince’s Easy to book online with deals available
Great golf course and range, staff always make me feel very welcome. Ignore the reviews from what looks like a small group of members taking it out on staff because its rained recently! Very unfair - my local course is much worse.
Course is reasonable in length with mostly genuine par 4s. Greens are nothing special but generally there is a lack a variation. Played early on a Sunday morning and was surrounded by 4 balls which meant a relatively slow round. Overall good value for money.
Really couldn't have been less impressed, having played most public/ private courses in around London. 1. Tee boxes were a complete mess. Most of the time we were teeing up yards behind the markers because there wasn't any grass to even put the tee's in. Sand everywhere, nowhere to dispose of tees so they were just littered all over the tee box worst I've ever seen on any course despite having a c.10am tee time 2. Goose poo all over the course, which in of itself is to be expected given the fact there were plenty of geese. But the fact that there was days and days old poo on the greens is unacceptable, as clearly it just hadn't been maintained. 3. Guy at the halfway house makes a call right next to us as we're teeing off on the hole right next to it, despite having just spoken with him, with complete disregard. 4. The rough is as bad as many reviews say on here. Essentially all you have to do is dip into the 'first cut' of rough on most holes and the ball will be lost. And given a lot of the fairways are quite narrow in parts, it just makes the course a nightmare and really takes the fun out of it. On most holes there is next to zero maintenance. 5. Lots of groups of kids who couldn't care less about any etiquette, as well as groups of adults, shouting and slowing the pace of play by taking multiple shots at once etc. Honestly just a terrible experience, I'd play every course again that I've played in London. Except this one. And they charge more than any public course I've played.
