Richard the First
"Located on the historic Royal Hill, a stone’s throw away from the centre of Greenwich, and only 400m from Greenwich DLR station. The Richard the First is proud to have been at the heart of the local community since 1923.Upon entering you are greeted by the traditional bar space which is the heart of the pub. To the rear of the pub you’ll find our stunning conservatory, a relaxing drinking and dining space showered in natural light. Beyond that, our beautiful beer garden."

Visited pub for first time since refurbishment and was blown away. Fantastic. Warm welcoming greeting from wonderful host, seated almost straight away and 5* customer service throughout our visit. The food was INCREDIBLE. I had beef roast, cooked to perfection. Some of veg was a bit lukewarm but didn’t matter. We shared a macaroni cheese side dish which was delicious. Partner had fish & chips - huge portion and very tasty. Couldn’t fault our experience and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can!
We’ve been going to this pub since we moved to Greenwich 2 years ago. The place it is very nice. The garden it is cool, and friendly environment. And it has one of the best burgers and roast on my opinion. Their burger is epic
A lovely family pub with a large heated garden. If you look from the outside it looks small, but the pub itself is very large. The food was very tasty and the portions were very generous.
Sunday lunch was absolutely immense! One of the best I've had in ages, food arrived really quickly and the staff were friendly too. You will probably need to book if you're going on a Sunday though!
Had a great meal here. Never been before don't often come to Greenwich, met my eldest who had booked the table. The ambiance is really nice and the staff very friendly and helpful, it is a very welcoming place. The food was very good, I had bavette steak, my partner the stew off the specials board and my eldest the plant burger vegan. It was all thoroughly enjoyable and we finished off with apple and pear crumble. Will definitely go back next time we are in Greenwich and would recommend to anyone else wanting good, well presented pub food.
We had our son’s 1st birthday here at the end of October and it was beyond perfect. The staff were wonderfully attentive, and did not bat an eye at us for staying well beyond our allocated time and for taking up a great deal of the inside as well as outside. It was the first pub we ventured out to when he was 2 weeks old, so it was lovely to celebrate here. Thanks to the team for a lovely day!
Mother’s Day lunch/ dinner Lovely staff, beautiful place, yummy food.
A most excellent pub on Royal Hill in Greenwich. Smallish from the outside but a real "Tardis" with big conservatory and covered garden. Wonderful friendly staff make the venue a pleasure to visit. Good beers a'plenty although small range of cask available just yet in these early post lockdown days. An extensive pub menu is available and all the food coming out from the kitchen look scrumptious. A great place to visit whether for a quiet drink or to meet up with mates. Highly recommended.
Had my first Steak & Ale Pie here and even though I'm not a fan of British cousine it was actually amazing! Will definitely be back. The gentelman's club style interior design was also very creative, comfortable and atmospheric. The pub itself turned out to be more spacious than an average London pub with some great options for outdoor seating!
The best pub in London. Pub Quiz questions due tend to have northern focus but no one is perfect.
