Great place to stop for a Coffee and relax. Yes Farm shop is expensive and restaurant closed. Staff seemed pleasant and butcher was great. Lots of organic free range items had bison steaks, tasted amazing. takeaway food not great had Dirty fries, just overcooked chips a some cheese put on top
Absolutely amazing estate producing some amazing products from meat to pies and everything in between. The products are delicious. They even sell locally sourced products to complement their own. Well worth a visit to purchase something special or do your weekly shopping.
Been here many times now but the deli counter is a bit hit and miss on what you can get, my wife got an amazing pea quiche there once, not there next time, then got an amazing butternut squash quiche and next time not there. Today no quiche at all so disappointed. The amount of fresh veg sold could be a lot better as the offerings of meat fish etc are plentiful its just a shame the accompaniments let the shop down. Great shop but please give a little more thought to some good old Welsh veg and vegetable derivatives. How about some chalk boards with recipie ideas on them and boost a one stop shop for all evening meal requirements.
The Rhug Estate has an amazing farm shop and restaurant. The main reason we found it was as a rest spot to charge our EV. They are by far the fastest charging stations around at 120kw/h. This in my opinion stands as an example to others, when providing badly needed facilities. Amazing place.
Great food and a lovely place to stop for a break when heading into or out of mid Wales. The coffee was great value, but be prepared, the food in the farm shop is really tasty, but quite expensive
Decided to try the lamb chops seen on the recent TV programme. Yet to cook them but found the butchery a little expensive. Most of the grocery products were quite expensive with the green grocery products very poor in quality. Potatoes, leeks, carrots and cabbage soft or limp. Could purchase locally grown and very fresh from my green grocers at a fraction of the cost. On a positive note the sausage bap from the takeaway was delicious.
Such a shame they offering only cashless payment now, i will no longer be supporting business who offer only card payment unfortunately. Don’t think people understand the long term consequences of a cashless society.
Great. Used the rapid charger to chuck some electrons in the battery while i had a quick shop and off I went. Nice.
Went to Rhug today following a recommendation, really, really disappointed, inside cafe closed had to utilise outside food area, ordered food, had to clear and clean own table, eating area dirty messy and tables not cleared with no attempt from staff to come out and clear up ready for customers to eat. Saving grace was a table sanitiser spray and a damp blue kitchen roll had been left out. I chose not to eat following this, but family members agreed food was nice.
Long queue for tea but loved seeing buffalo roam free
