Love this place. Absolutely stunning scenery. Flowers, trees, pretty paths and arches. Educational for both adults and children and they have a lovely Play-area In the woods which my boys loved. It’s great in the day time and during Christmas we also attended an event called glow which was in the dark with lights along all the paths and trees. They had stalls too selling hotdogs and mulled wine. It was gorgeous I even got proposed to there so it will always be a special place to us !
A really fabulous day here. Beautiful gardens and a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The walled gardens were lovely with so many different areas, veg, sunflowers, pools and community areas. The children's play area was excellent with plenty to climb, swing and explore. There was a path around Ellesmere Lake and views over the wild meadow to the canal, this then lead into the Chinese garden which was outstanding. We had a great day with 3 boys aged 7 & 12. You can see that so much hard work has gone into making the gardens beautiful again.
I loved this garden and had been waiting to have the opportunity to visit. Well worth the wait. Welcome building and facilities ultra modern. Gardens are still a work in progress but lots to see. Cafe in the grounds and lots of places to have a picnic. I especially liked the paradise garden and Japanese stream garden, which will look fantastic when completed. Playground: Natural play areas in the woods. Restrooms: Plenty in the welcome building and also some just outside the walled garden. Picnic area: Picnic area in the orchard. Benches and grassy areas to sit.
Stunning. Incredible gardens, brilliant place for all to enjoy. The play area is also fantastic for kids of all ages! And the food is delicious. Such a good idea using wasp traps in the garden may be a good idea to dot some about the outdoor cafe area at the main site
We came to the dog walking evening on the 27th of June. We had wanted to visit the gardens since they opened but this gave us, and our furry friends, the ideal opportunity to explore. What a resounding success it seemed to be. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the next one in July. Everybody we spoke to said the same as us. The gardens themselves are beautiful and we all enjoyed exploring. It is a place that is ever changing and I would like to see it in the different seasons. I really hope the dog friendly evenings remain a regular thing.
A beautiful place, in its infancy but coming on a treat. A place full of wonderful contrasts: inspiring cultivated gardens alongside wild, bee-attracting meadows; peaceful babbling brooks leading to challenging play areas. There is something for everyone here. You can spend a whole day and not get bored- or hungry as there are a variety of big and small dining places, with refreshments at reasonable prices, not to mention Halal choices. Delightful place, well worth a visit. Great value if you take up the special offer on joining RHS!
A lovely oasis of well-tended gardens very close to Manchester with easy access from the M60. There is ample easy and free parking. This is our second visit post-pandemic and we thoroughly enjoyed once again strolling around the various themed garden areas, particularly the walled gardens. Whilst there’s a lot of open space within the grounds much of it is still in development. In reality it is within and around the walled garden, including the greenhouses, that makes the visit worthwhile; there’s really not a great deal to see further afield. The labelling of plants is very helpful. The paths are wide and well designed. We had a good late lunch at the cafe at the back of the gardens, though there is a wasp problem. We took time to rest on some of the many well-placed benches and contemplate pretty and uplifting views in almost every direction. The other cafe near the entrance is too busy and noisy for our liking with a huge queue on a Saturday afternoon. The gift shop is well-stocked and interesting with books and ideas for gifts but the best part is the outdoor plant sales area. This is far better stocked and organised than all of the garden centres and nurseries around our home area. We also liked the idea of displaying plants for sale grouped by those that can be found in the different sections of the gardens. Great idea! All in all a wonderful day out and we left brimming with ideas for our own garden, very glad we came.
A lovely oasis of calm close to the city. Beautiful surroundings with walking trails and a few different play areas for the kids. There are also at least 2 cafés to enjoy as you stroll around. We visited in autumn and the woodland walks were wonderful on a bright sunny day. I think this place will only get better as the gardens develop and mature.
Excellent gardens and walks to the lake, an abundance of plants and trees in lovely surroundings, this is a place that is constantly changing as more plants and trees are blooming and being added. The Chinese garden will look amazing when completed. The cafe serves excellent food, very good choices, from a snack to a meal. The garden centre is well stocked with helpful staff. The shop has a wide range of gifts, garden ware and local food and drinks.
Amazing colour for the time of year! In fact for any time of year. Great walled gardens. Fascinating place and not too crowded. Arrived Wednesday, 11am. Nice cafes and other refreshment stops.
