It’s a really nice place to go when you’ve finished on the beach. I had a milkshake and my friend had a hot chocolate. There is nothing to complain about but I think the milkshake could be presented a bit nicer rather than just being milk especially for being a chocolate milkshake. Photo of milkshake half drank as it was too nice to wait till a photo had been taken
Great place if you have a dog, they are very welcome here. Great sausage sandwich too. Decor is a bit stark but I think it's how it was originally back in the day and it's kind of nostalgic. Staff are lovely and 2 big dogs are no problem. The toilets which are outside the building have, thankfully been nicely refurbished and are no longer scary awful.
A classic seaside cafe. They even have banana split and knickerbocker glory.
The cafe is typical of that seaside architecture. Coffee was well priced and decent. Food selection is nothing to write home about but reasonably priced. I don't understand the reason why you have to wait for a table when it's not table service though. Many people were waiting for a long time to be seated despite free tables.Food: 4/5
Great views over the sea better if you can get closer to the window but it's expensive. You generally expect more expensive for the area but £6 for a normal bun is a bit much, it was packaged and not freshly made. Tables are made for 2 but sit 4.Food: 2/5
Loved this old-style seaside cafe with traditional treats including banana split and Horlicks - much needed on a sunny but very frosty winter's day on the beach. Down to earth and popular with dog walkers and other locals. Nice location with views right by the sea front.Service: 5/5
My favourite place in Whitley Bay. Even though it pretty much hasn't changed in decades, that sort of adds to the charm of this cafe. You can sit and enjoy the amazing views along the prom and beach from here which is very welcome on a cold or rainy day. We have spoke to loads of total strangers in here when we stroke their dogs. Everyone who goes in seem really friendly and laid back. It's really nice it's a dog friendly cafe. They have started putting tables outside which is lovely
Great little cafe right on the front with some of the best views in Tynemouth. There’s a great selection of homemade sandwich’s and cakes to choose from. These can be eaten inside or taken down to the beach. Prices are reasonable considering the location and there’s toilets right next door.
Staff attitude was absolutely rotten on my last visit. It's a shame really, as we used to attend here on a weekly basis. On the last occasion I requested an ice cream in a cone like I have done so in the past, only to be barked at by staff saying I would have to order from the window hatch and I would not be able to sit in with my daughter. When I pointed out that it was the hotest day off the year and that i was in company with an 18month old and that only the week prior I had ordered the exact same and had been served inside I was called a liar and I was making it up ‍ its a shame really but will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on.
They sell just the best knickerbocker glory called Fantasia the staff are great and the place itself hasn't changed since the 1930's. And I am so glad for that. It's a place that is just filled with memories of my childhood. You will never get a better ice-cream anywhere else. Or a better Tuna/Mayo sarnie end of The lady owner is so nice and takes the time for a chat if you want to. Thanks to all the staff xx Parking: Short on disabled parking bays Kid-friendliness: Yep they tolerate kids more than I would Wheelchair accessibility: Only the rear door is wheelchair accessible
