Visited the function suite for an orchestra performance. Good size space. Bar kept the drinks coming. Lovely cosy Christmas atmosphere and decorations in the place. Could see it being a good place for a meal. The inside scoop from an eho friend is its always spotless.
Stayed the night on Saturday 7 Feb. Checked in early to go and meet friends. Had to wait a very long time at the bar before being served. Check in was brief, shown the door to the room and handed a key.nGot back after front door was closed and bar revellers had gone. Only in the morning did I realise the room was not warm because the window could not close properly and allowed the cold air in.nWater for the shower was not warm enough for a comfortable shower even when turned up fully and the central heating turned up fully still left the room chilly.nLocation was the reason I stayed on this occasion. perhaps not again.
For a place charging ridiculous money for one night Deluxe Room,£150! We were not happy to find our room was dirty,dusty and mouldy,not to mention the sizing was awful.nnLampshades both sides with mould and dust.nWe couldn't use the shower due to the sealant being black with mould.That doesn't need replacing, it needs re-done.nnNo hand towels,just bath towels. which is ridiculous just for your hands,a waste of a towelnnWindows that Fully open without any child locks. Is dangerous.nnThis is our second issue with this 'House'.nSadly,the review isn't nice. But neither is the money they charged us for a dirty,unkept room! Which sadly was paid for twice. As we had other guests.nnThe staff were made to make us feel like it was a burden to fix a room that we specifically asked for to be a Twin Room,to find two single beds pushed together.nFor them then to come and change later in the night before we arrived back.nnI do not know where these prices come from. It certainly is not a Hotel. I have had cheaper,nicer and more spacious rooms in the middle of the town.nnI would avoid anyone silly enough to pay for a room that size which isn't kept to Hotel Standards. 3 star Hotel doesn't mean lacking in cleanliness.
I was here for my works Christmas night out. Can't fault the staff who were lovely and we had a nice night, but very disappointed with the food. For the price we paid £40, a 2 course Dinner comprised of a lump of chewy turkey a spoon full of solid carrot and parsnip discs, 2 dry roast potatoes and one pig in a blanket. The apple crumble was very tarte and no one ate it. We didn't even get a cracker on the table.nI missed my free glass of bubbly, but they did give me one when I asked.nNot impressed at all with the meal, disco was funnDidn't stay so can't comment on the rooms.nI wouldn't go back for a meal or Christmas night out. Went today 20th December with voucher for high tea a disaster from start to finish told Groupon shouldn’t have done the voucher made to feel it was our fault by someone who called himself the manager. The sandwiches were shocking cheap horrible bread tiny bit of filling cake and biscuits cut in triangles falling apart. Scones you could have used as doorstops. He admitted they wouldn’t normally serve what we had what an admission but as I said we were made to feel it was our fault and to take it up with Groupon I pointed out they served the food not Groupon and left never to return.
