Our ‘comfy’ room was well appointed and the location is super. The grounds are lovely and it’s a short walk to the beach. Service was excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We found all the staff genuinely friendly and helpful. The spa is lovely for unwinding. The beautiful treatments are super. I had the ‘Quench and Drench’ facial with Carla. Food was of a high standard and they offered vegan options for me. All wines are organic and they offer a great selection of cocktails. It isn’t the cheapest hotel for a weekend break, so it’s a special treat for us, but they do good offers if you can go during the week which we can’t.
Really lovely hotel. We stayed in the Keep which was beautifully decorated and very tranquil. It's located about 100 meters from the main hotel but it's a pleasant walk to get there - or if you are less ambulant, a buggy is available. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the hotel is within easy reach of Whitby and Sandsend. We thought the staff were excellent. Our only disappointment was the main restaurant breakfast excluded which we considered hugely over-priced for the the quality and choice of food on offer. I would certainly recommend a stay here. We didn't use the Spa so can't comment.
Wonderful warm welcoming place with luxury & charm. Beautiful location & setting. All staff are a credit to the hotel. Throughout our 6 day's stay with family, we were impressed with the prompt service, every need was catered for making us feel so valued. The entire staff were professional & with a smile on their faces. Bedrooms were spacious, clean, quiet & with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast & evening meals were excellent. Food quality & staff service impressive. Swimming pool, sauna & steam room all well presented & clean. Looking forward to visiting this hotel again for another outstanding experience.
Well, to be honest, the place is gorgeous and in an excellent location. Rooms were fantastic. But the types of accommodation adn the facilities you could enjoy are far from what is being described and what one would expect. The Garden and the pool are readily accessible only if you stay in main hall. Otherwise you will need to take a golf buggy trip to and fro for everything.Beware the beach is not in a walkable distance at all.
Staff amazing but the room really let it down. We booked the suite which cost £350 for the night. The furniture was dated and really needed replacing as had chips and cracks. There was a large black mould patch above the shower which you don’t expect in the best suite. Also no usb ports. The films were £5 or more each which was an unexpected thing. I have stayed in places which cost a third of this and the rooms were so much better. Taking the room out of the equation the hotel is amazing. The communal spaces are amazing and the pool. The food was beautiful too. The grounds are just wow. Deer, owls and rabbits seen beautiful
Wonderful overnight stay with hubby and pooch. Made to feel so welcome from our arrival and throughout our stay by all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and amazed at how dog friendly the hotel is even down to the dog biscuits at reception. Will definitely be visiting again.Rooms: 5/5
Had a really lovely night here celebrating our wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous location. It's just lacking something though. The fab are helpful and friendly but not very knowledgeable, they brought the wrong drinks, say they'll come and take an order but then forget, don't know the answer to a question, so go to find out and just don't come back etc. Also the spa is a bit basic. Nice but no jacuzzi or extra bits. Would return but think there are better places
Great location with Sandsend beach a short walk and the grounds of the hotel were really well kept and lovely to walk around. Room didn't quite match the surroundings unfortunately - it was big and we had a balcony but was in need of some upgrading as the curtains were ripped, the carpet and furniture was a bit worn and wasn't as clean as it should have been. Spa was nice with sauna and steam room but changing rooms were in need of a little tlc too. Would probably go back but maybe be a bit more selective about the room we had.
Reception was extremely welcoming and helpful. We stayed long weekend to celebrate 50 th Wedding Anniversary . Room very comfortable . Food delicious. Afternoon tea with some family members an absolute delight. Staff were so helpful and attentive. Thank you all so much. Highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Just what you would expect from a quality place like this. Friendly, professional staff. Excellent food. Lovely surroundings - would definitely recommend a walk around the grounds/area etc. Highlight of the trip - a spa treatment/massage and use of the pool/sauna area afterwards. Hint: try to book an early one we went for 1.30pm, drop your bags at reception and relax before it 'busies' up, as everyone is booking in/arriving from 3.00pm onwards. Definitely a 'treat' venue - but worth it.
