Raigmore is largest NHS facilities in the Highlands. Lots of free parking but not fully maintained. Separate entries for main hospital & A&E. As you enter main hospital there is a Royal Mail Post box, RVS shop and Highland Table canteen, Disabled Toilets just next to canteen. There is a Vending Room with 4 different Hot & Cold vending machines. Couple of Public Pay Phones and free Cash Withdrawal machine next to vending room. Main hospital nicely clean and tidy. Hospital is divided in to 14 different sections & multiple floors which can be accessed by Stairs & Lifts.
Obviously, it’s never a good thing to have to go to a hospital. My mother-in-law slipped on an icy patch and broke her humerus. We had to wait about 40 minutes for triage. After that, things moved along quite well. We arrived shortly after nine o’clock and were out about 11:30. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I really hope, other patients will have the same experience.
Discharged 21/3/23, a massive thankyou to all of the staff in my care nurses, doctors, cleaners, porters ect on ward 4b. you were all amazing and everyone was very supportive of my needs also very kind and caring. Thankyou
Really friendly and helpful staff at the a&e. I’m an EU Citizen on holiday and went in with a minor infection, nurse saw me quickly and I then had to wait just under an hour for a doctor to see me.
Just had a member of speech and language therapy call me, and they ended up stressing me out, saying my voice sounds absolutely clear. Well, it does sound clear right now and that's because I'm yet to have my throat operated on. I'm getting out-of-breath constantly because of a rare breathing condition - can say 1 or 2 sentences and then I have to stop speaking so I can catch up. The speech therapist was very insensitive just now by saying "I'm not hearing you get out of breath" in a cheerful kind of way. She must have said this to me at least 3 times. So irritating. I AM getting out of breath and as my reception wasn't good, the line was unclear. As this stressful conversation was by phone, Sharmila the therapist, could not see me struggling. Why do some of these people have to be so insensitive, critical/rude and ridiculing over the phone? Raigmore have taken no interest in my restricted breathing, despite me calling them saying "Look, I'm struggling to breathe, and it's noisy as well as restricted". So no wonder I've chosen to go to Aberdeen for my treatment instead. I've lost faith. Maybe its best I ask the Speech therapists at Aberdeen to help me too, rather than the people here at Raigmore, after the stressful phone call I just received. Patients don't mean much to those running the place. Some of these healthcare professionals only worsen our health. You must wait and wait and wait until an unknown health problem causes you more harm, or even becomes fatal.
I'm an external partner of the NHS and work often at Raigmore in wards 6c and below. Excellent, hard-working, friendly people. A credit to Scottish health care.
Heart stopping intermittently? Bits hanging off? Trouble breathing without a ventilator? Then boy are you in for a treat! This is just the place you've been looking for!
Special thanks to Consultant Opthalmologist, Dr Rosie Brennan of the Ophthalmology Department who carried out my eye surgery recently.  Extremely grateful and thankful to her for her incredible skill and expertise in carrying out the surgery.  Absolutely thrilled with the results, life changing for me and I can't thank Dr Brennan enough.  I sincerely appreciate everything that all the Nurses and Theatre staff did for me in the Eye Surgery Day Case Unit on the day I attended. At the follow up appointment, after surgery, I wanted to say how much I appreciated Dr Brennan's time, kindness and understanding whilst I discussed an issue which was important to me.  She was extremely empathic and kind.  Her actions were truly appreciated and they went a long way to repairing the upset caused by a certain male Doctor on the day of surgery.  The interaction was brief, but my personal space was not respected, I was spoken to in a very condescending tone and was utterly humiliated and offended by a comment he made all in a matter of minutes. I divulged personal information and he immediately used it in a throw away remark which made me feel extremely humiliated and ashamed. Makes me question the underlying character of this man. Requires supervision, especially around vulnerable patients. Has minimal patient contact but that doesn't mean to say he can run roughshod over patients and behave to others as he did toward me. I didn't deserve to be spoken to the way he did. Felt uncomfortable in his presence and thoroughly offended by his manner. Arrogance is used by the weak, while kindness is used by the strong.
Specialist departments are fantastic 5/5 Parking has improved slightly it is now possible to find a parking space rather than spending 30 minutes driving around but still packed with people leaving their cars and going into Inverness. 3/5 General Wards consultants are great, the wards in general however leave plenty to be desired, cramped and dated and with some nurses with serious chips on their shoulders 2/5
The great surgeon and only handful of nurse staff stopped my husband from going mental in this place following 2 operations on his leg. Been placed after bad accident in the same room as 3 men with dementia felt worst than the accident itself. Staff not bothered about dignity of their patients and did minimum or even less to what it’s required. My husband was positive and full of power to get better upon admission but after 6 days in this hospital his mental health suffered greatly. Food was more like slop and only thing my husband could eat was toast with jam. Although when he asked for 3 toasts he was only getting one. When he required wash wasn’t getting one when other patients have. I wouldn’t wish my enemy to be admitted to this hospital. One star rating is for the excellent surgeon and couple of nurses only.
