Queen Margaret Hospital

Story

Queen Margaret Hospital is located in Dunfermline and one of two main hospitals in the kingdom of Fife. Queen Margaret caters for Dunfermline and the West Fife catchment area. The hospital has 21 wards, with five car park areas situated around the building to the east, south and west and an energy park to the north-east. The hospital is currently run by NHS Fife.HistoryThe first phase of Queen Margaret opened in 1985, although maternity services were still being dealt with at the Dunfermline Maternity Hospital. The hospital was praised by many people, when first opened, as one of the finest and modern in the UK. Michael Forsyth backed a plan for a £32 million second phase of Queen Margaret to be built in 1988, which was given the green light and work began in 1991. The local newspaper, Dunfermline Press fought hard to preserve a full service maternity unit for the area from being re-located to the Forth Park Hospital in Kirkcaldy.Upon completion of the new hospital, The Princess Royal, officially opened the second phase in 1993 with all of Dunfermline's hospital facilities now being dealt with on one site for the first time. This resulted in the immediate closure of three Dunfermline hospitals: Milesmark, Dunfermline and West Fife District Hospital and the Dunfermline Maternity where the latter is now used for business use. The hospital received NHS Trust status in 1994.FacilitiesServicesQueen Margaret has the following facilities. This include: endocrine and diabetes medicine, breast disease, in-patient nephrology and in-patient urology, maxillofacial and ophthalmic surgery. Acute surgical patients, making the hospital the trauma care for fife and outpatient antenatal care is also based here. Queen Margaret has a minor injury service since January 2012, when A&E services were centralised to Kirkcaldy. The hospital has CT scanning and eight operating theatres.

At the main entrance free cash machine, across the reception there are couple of vending machines for hot drinks and sweets, there is a Aroma coffee bar as well. Hospital nicely clean and tidy. Separate disabled entrance. This hospital has 3 floors accessed by lifts and stairs. Mandatory Facemask due to COVID reasons. Toilet facilities on all floors. Helpful and friendly nursing staffs. Ample amount of parking spaces including disabled and parents parking. This hospital also has a nice wee garden for their patients.
I regularly attend this hospital for routine diabetic eye screening, and other appointments and scans. Staff are friendly and attentative. The hospital is spotlessly clean and all efforts are made to keep you safe from infections with regards Covid or other bugs. I have only good things to say about the hospital and its staff. Waiting times have been, in general, very good.
Very nice hospital with plenty of parking space. Reception staff are very helpful and there is also a very nice cafe which also does food and drink to take away. The hospital is located just a 5 minute walk from the train station
There should be a revolving door fitted for the volume of psychiatrists that have came to work in The Queen Margaret Hospital in the past five years and left. The psychiatrists who do stay gaslight and ignore their patients. An investigation into their practices would reveal an awful lot...
Wendy Frame would like to say a great big thank you to Shirley Bain of the CPN unit for outstanding committment in her job and behind the scenes also. And a big thanks also to her team. Excellent
PARKING. Visited the Hospital for a routine consultation. ALL car parks had vehicles queuing for entry and ALL spaces occupied. We arrived 30 mins early and should have had plenty of time to park and arrived at the relevant department. After spending 45 minutes we had to cancel the Appointment and Reschedule as we drove round and round getting stuck in unending queuing traffic. This hospital desperately needs its parking facilities upgraded and brought into the 21st Century.
Such a shame that they changed this hospital from a major A&E Department to a minor injury unit only. This hospital is not even that old & it is such a waste of a huge building & with the amount of people who live in & around Dunfermline to have to go to Kirkcaldy Victoria Hospital from Dunfermline & surrounding areas when we had a perfectly good hospital on our doorstep seems like such a waste but thats cutbacks for you?
I had to attend for a CT scan on Wednesday 22/06/22 I was early but was taken immediately as usual my veins caused problems to insert the cannula but the lovely lady who attended me had such patience & was so kind, she put me at ease & was so gentle I think she was called Anne Karen or Karen Anne. The radiographer was also lovely. When the NHS in Scotland is having such a hard time I can only thank god they employ such professional people who do care about their patients 5 stars for QMH Dunfermline
The Margret Hospital is the Queen Margret Hospital. It is not a separate hospital or department.
