Great location just off M5 - we use it for motorhome stopover. Friendly and helpful staff. Food is to the higher end of reasonably priced and is well cooked. Chips are especially good. My dessert, creme brulee, was slightly disappointing as slightly split/curdled.
Great pub stop over with our motorhome for the night on route to Cornwall, had a bar basket meal cheap and cheerful. Plus a pint, shame my partner didn't feel 100% as you serving his favourite real ale, thank you and definitely use you again as night stop over
Just left this pub en route to Devon and glad we did. The staff are lovely, especially the lady behind the bar who was super nice and friendly. Food was decent and arrived in good time. The pub is liteally 2mins off the M5 so great for a pit stop. Would definitely come back.
The meal took ages but at the time the place wasnt busy. We had to send the vegi burger back as it was so dry and the bread roll was burnt. A new one was brought out but again the roll was burnt, The lasagne was ok but would not recommend. We certainly wouldn't go back for a meal, or indeed visit this pub again.
Great local pub with good Food.. Had the Puriton burger.. Wow what a burger..
Would give 0 stars. Went for an evening meal with family, only the 4 of us. Spent £18 on 5 soft drinks and was told we had to wait for food, as they were busy. Barely anyone was in the pub and most didn't have food. Poor service.
Rather disappointed to be honest, it started badly and went downhill from there. We'd booked a table for four at 8pm and when we arrived were told that they had no record of it. My wife said that our booking had been confirmed by email. The lass who was serving looked fed up and frazzled and said "Ok, but we have a party in, so im afraid you'll have to wait to have your order taken and get your food". There only seemed to be two members of staff on,herself and the lass behind the bar. We got a drink and sat down chatting till the lass serving was able to take our orders. This unfortunately was also a bit of an issue. My wife is a coeliac and thats one of the reasons we chose the Puriton Inn, as they have quite a good selection of gluten free options on the menu. She'd already decided to go for the lamb chops option, but was informed that wasn't available, as the menus online haven't been updated. She went for a steak instead. The food arrived quite quickly and was adequate , but again when it came to ordering dessert it was a big let down. On the menu online they have four gf desserts listed. The barmaid had to come over and read out from a list what was actually available. Anything my wife had fancied wasn't available, the lass was very apologetic and said that all they did have was what was left in the freezer, which they were trying to get rid of. So basically the only thing available she could eat was ice cream, it was rather frustrating and disappointing to be honest as we'd specifically chosen the Puriton inn on the basis of the gf options listed on the menu.
Amazing Puriton burger, lovely pub, very friendly. Covid safe.
Today we had very short notice plan to meet family for lunch. Despite plenty of other bookings and short-staffed, Gemma was welcoming and friendly both on the phone and in person even though at full stretch serving multiple customers. Seven of us enjoyed lunch before travelling on, thank you Gemma and team.
We were driving down to Cornwall on holiday and unfortunately had a blowout. So we managed to come off the motorway and find this little pub, they let us wait in the pub garden for a recovery vehicle and have a drink. They were really lovely including all the customers! Thankyou so much for being so accommodating when we needed help the most!
