Beautiful street with amazing views across the gardens to old town and the castle. Very busy and tourist based but also good shopping and access to the tram system.

There's a great selection of shops. It's possible to buy almost anything you could need from town, perhaps not solely prince's street. Even tgen there's a whole lot of retail shops, mobile phone shops, cosmetics even groceries (although very limited). I'd not recommend you get your groceries from prince's street. It's more fashion and department stores. There's also a few eateries, coffees shops and souvenir shops. Along with jewlery shops and shoe shops. There aren't so many pubs on Prince's St. However, Rose St (which runs parallel to Prince's St) is plentiful when it comes to pubs. Many shops from prince's street have an entrance/exit onto Rose Street. If the women want to do the shopping and the men get board and wants a pint they can nip onto Rose st easily. Although it's a narrow street and not entirely pedestrianised and its rather narrow so not much sunlight due to the buildings being high too. I personally avoid Prince's St at the weekend as I find it just too busy it's overwhelming and can end up being far more time consuming than visiting at a quieter time or day of the week. It's just longer waiting times and the nore people the more likely to run into someone that will loose their patience. It's more pushing and shoving I can't be bothered with. Otherwise it would be a 5* instead of 4*. Prince's street is a great tourist attraction and the garden's being across the road and the tram facility makes it all the more to boast about the city of Edinburgh. One last thing, if you're not a local, I'd strongly advise to get public transport and NOT drive. Parking is extremely limited and expensive. I know bus fares are climbing, but its far more economical. I'd say financially it's ludicrous to drive your car into town. Bicycles not so much as there are places You can padlock your bike safely. You may find it cheaper to get a taxi, I'd check first though, as it depends how far away you are. As a tourist it's a must see. Along with Scots monument on the other side of the road from the shops.

Great place to shop, in the heart of Edinburgh.

Best tram stop for shopping. Last tram at 23:19 weekdays, and not the ones that appear here later on maps!
