I ordered the curried goat box lunch for £6.50. It tasted authentically Jamaican and was very delicious. It reminded me of my own mother’s cooking and was well presented on the plate. The portion size could have been slightly more generous and the temperature of the food warmer. In addition, a little more attention could have been paid to customer service, for example, by asking us if we wanted drinks to accompany our meal or by offering us tap water.
Went back after a year and ordered the same as lastiime. The place is under new management and has had a new face-lift....both for the better. Very friendly staff and lady owner. Nice atmosphere inside restaurant. Food was excellent. Curried goat was much more tastier than last time and loved the salt fish pattie. Would definitely recommend and will do back.
Delicious authentic Caribbean food; felt like a family place. Really decent pricing and the seating environment was minimalist but homely.

Visited today 7th March. Food was outstanding. Party of 5 we ordered jerk chicken, curried goat, mac n cheese, chicken roti, plantin all of which had amazing flavours. Fabulous decor throughout. Great cocktail list and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We will definitely be returning. I would 100% recommend you book first. A little gem in the heart of portobello road.
Awesome food last night. i had a hard session at Bay Sixty6 skate park just round the corner from Portobello and your Jerk chicken with rice and peas was just the thing! super awesome friendly staff and super tasty food at a very reasonable price 10/10 will come again
First time eating in Portobello Shack, ordered ackee and saltfish with rice n peas plus salad Very flavoursome, enough spice and well presented. Great surroundings and comfortable, customer service - excellent. Definitely recommend and will be going back real soon. Big respect Roseita and team x
Went here with the wife, food was amazing especially the price you pay for it so worth it. All the food is halal. Staff are super friendly and it’s in a fantastic location. Would 100% recommend.
